If Eddie is the problem, is juggling the players around the solution?

Well one name that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is David Ribbans from Northampton. Eddie has wrong-footed us all and brought him in to replace Courtney Lawes.

How often has Ribbans played in the back row?

This is based purely on my own observations.

During the world cup England seemed at their best when they had a more fluid interplay of backs and forwards. It seemed that the forwards were looking to offload and seek space rather than just be a battering ram.

However the defeat against South Africa seems to have left some scars. It now seems that England have decided directness and physicality is the only way forward. However they dont seem to possess the power in the centres and are not dominating teams up front in the way they have done previously. Along with this is the slight change of interpretation of laws surrounding the ruck which EJ seems to think playing without the ball is a better option.

I'm not sure what the answer is in terms of personnel changes, but more worryingly I'm not sure EJ has the answer to Englands current stuttering

Ribbans is South African so he passes the most important test of suitability for Test rugby,

England will 'keep playing on the edge' despite penalty count

Quote England shipped 15 penalties in the defeat by Scotland, before conceding another 14 against Wales last time out.

Defence coach John Mitchell says England need to be "smarter", but cannot play with any less intensity.

"At no point will we stop playing on the edge," he told BBC Sport.

England team to play France

England: Malins; Watson, Slade, Farrell, May; Ford, Youngs; M Vunipola, Cowan-Dickie, Sinckler, Itoje, Ewels, Wilson, Curry, B Vunipola.

Replacements: George, Genge, Stuart, Hill, Earl, Robson, Lawrence, Daly.

So Malians, Ewell and Cowan-Dickie into starting lineup and George, Hill and Daly to the bench.

Anyone else think England are going to get smashed on Saturday?. I do. Slade and Farrell vs Vakatawa and Fickou. More to the point Youngs v Dupont!. France will win by at least 10 points.

10 points - that really is 'smashed'.
Wales managed 14 points. What should we call that?

Fair point. I guess i was putting it in context of our normal margin of defeat at home. It is rare that we lose at Twickenham by 10 or more points.

That is because of the crowd factor - without it England will have to play better and be more disciplined than previous games to keep the margin to 10.

There again we all know France can just 'fail to turn up'

I always think its a bit strange that serving referees should be allowed to be 'brought in to training'

Well established practice at all levels of the game to educate players whenever issues around law interpretation by the players/coaches needs addressing.  As the all have their wages paid by the RFU it a bit of commonsense
