With nothing to play for now, England should pick players who are playing regularly in the Premiership, at the moment we are going backwards under Edie Jones. I would be surprised if we get anything from the next two games.

I would argue with the next world Cup being 2 years away England Rugby should look to a new up and coming coach.... grow the squad with the likes of Harry Randall Simmonds Thornley.....
Let them blood in keep the likes of farrel to help Marcus Smith etc build a team for the next q0 years not the last 10

Amen to that. We are going backwards under Jones.

One gratifying thing for me about today's game was how well Sheedy played. Back in 2015 or so when Richmond used to play Cinderford, he really was their mainstay as obviously talented. His goalkicking was abysmal however. Now he's come through for Wales. He's better than Ford or Farrell but would never have got into the England team under the present regime.

There is plenty to criticise about Englands performance and whilst I agree that Farrell is well off the pace both as player and captain Sheedy is most definitely not a better player.
I thought that England would murder Eales innthe SH by channelling the injustice associated with the two tries but no they folded. Too many players prone to losing focus and resorting to appealing to the officials - its Joness job to prepare them and Farrells job to carry those instructions through onnthevpark. They need an old fashioned pack leader and EJ needs to rest players who are not performing Elliott Daly being a prime example.

Some very valid points I think Malins or Browne at full back would make a lot less mistakes than Daly, likewise Smith at 10 would open up the back line not sure who would be the best 12 in that team, Farrell without the captaincy and goal kicking responsibilities may revive his international career.
None of the above matters whilst Jones is in charge as he is far to short sited

Daly had his best game so far - but still nowhere near good enough Farrell is not the person to be captain - referees don't like/listen to him Billy V looked more like himself - much better game Wilson - not good enough for international standard Itoje had a rare bad game, conceded too many penalties Hill - not sure he is ready for internationals yet Ford - kicks too much I would suggest moving Watson to full back. Marcus Smith or Joe Simmonds at fly half Dombrandt or S Simmonds should be given a chance - Dombrandt has bulk, S Simmonds has pace (could be a 6?) Finally Jones should be sacked - results can be overlooked if you are blooding new players for the future - but he keeps playing the same old players. |

I agree Raider999 - time for Jones to fall on his sword! Trouble is I doubt the RFU can afford the "compo"

Might as well write-off the next 2 years unless he is sacked - now is the time to do it, giving the new man time to prepare for France 23 |

I read that the referee has acknowledged both controversial tries were wrong.

I always thought when the referee says you need to have a word the captain usually turns around and shouts "Sort it out lads" Not get in a huddle and bring on water carriers.

For me Watson has to go to full back with Malins and Parton (LI) as options
May has lost form, but I would stick with him, would love to see Radwan from NF given a chance . . amazing feet and genuinely quick. Centres we seem to lack, but mainly because Ford does not bring them into the game . so Smith to 10. At 9 for me , Spencer, Van Porvliet and Randall. Billy V . .. made some yards but only by running kicks back, no off loads . . so Simmonds and Dombrandt . . with maybe Simmonds at 6. But other back rows of Earl, Curry an Underhill when fit. Itoje just needs more rugby and should have left Sarries . . Hill still developing for now I would Attwood a run. Sinkler, Cowan Dickie and Vunipola all ok front row but Dunn needs another chance . . I think he brings some "dog". When E Jones came in he shook things up an no one was sure of their place, subsequently everyone played better . . now he picks players who are not even playing Premiership rugby . . players getting picked on reputation rather than form!!!

Agreed with all....
Imagine an England back row picked between the Curry Twins, Dombrant, Simonds, Earl, Willis, Martin, chuck in Lawes and Barbury.... would be by far the best in the world. Smith at 10 Daly lacks passion in my opinion, mallins or brown would give up their mrs to take down the last man.....

Would love to see Radwan over may, that kid has been finishing anything and everything for the last 5 year, Nat 1 Champ Sevens and now Prem... his pace would put Rees Zamit to shame lol. The current game plan means England may as well have no wingers or outside centres.... just kick it away

Interesting take on England's performance and problems. Seems to be in agreement with most posters on this august forum

How do you solve a problem like Eddie? He is stuck in his way of selecting and playing and doesn’t want to take radical steps. It’s easy to identify better players from outside his two selections. If you go with his main squad and his shadow squad then he has the players to change the structure, but will he use them?
Marlins to replace Daly, Marchand to replace Farrell and move Slade to 12; Robson to start at 9; Earl to replace Billy V; Ewels to replace Hill; Cowan-Dickie to start ahead of George and Genge to start ahead of Mako V. That would give a fresher look and probably be a quicker team and it’s done from within the bubbles already established which avoids the France problem.
