Ealing Trailfinders team to play London Irish on Saturday 27th April at Madejski Stadium in Round 22 of the Greene King IPA Championship: Oh dear. Ealing have thrown in the towel for this one. 2nd or third choice at almost every position. Apparently Will Safe on loan from Gloucester. Even the bench has 3rd choice players. I'm changing my prediction - Ealing will be lucky to not lose by 50.

Replacements:

16 Alun Walker 17 Matt Beesley 18 Elliot Millar Mills 19 Harry Casson 20 Rayn Smid 21 Ben Williams 22 Howard Packman

Here we go, Week 22 and the usual end of season madness makes great fun when trying to predict the results, especially with both end of the tables now sorted (congratulations to LI and the most heartfelt commiserations to Richmond...please come back!).

So:
Doncaster 0-5 Cornish Pirates ... Donny have been awful recently and CP will want to finish on a high.
London Scottish 2-5 Richmond ... Barbarian rugby for this derby. Mond will want (and probably deserve) to go out on a high.
London Irish 5-0 Ealing ... Ealing to play the U10's ahead of the Cup final. Cricket score time.
Jersey 5-1 Coventry ... Jersey have guaranteed their best ever finish, but will want to go out on a high and possibly snatch 3rd from BB if the can. Coventry have been magnificent this weekend, but I don't see them getting the double over the Reds. Perhaps a TBP to keep their travelling hordes happy....you are all welcome people.
Bedford 5-2 Nottingham ... Nottingham have found some form recently, so again, this could be Barbarian rugby and I fancy the Blues to win another thriller.
YC 5-0 Hartpury ... Job done, the relegation side will be out for Hartpury again. Despite their problems YC players have pride in abundance and will want to finish with a flourish, regardless of what may or may not happen next season.

It's been a pleasure one and all, although Jersey still have the Siam Cup to contest for against the 'Ol enemy Guernsey' on 11th May. Guernsey are the current holders after 10 years without the sacred silverware, but the Reds will be desperate to win back what is rightfully theirs, especially on home soil....can't wait!!

Perplexing isn't it. Sport is all about momentum and this would have been a great opportunity to finally beat a 'Premiership' side. Instead i fear it will backfire and we'll lose both matches...

True, I'm just being Eeyore! There are still some great players in that team (especially at 15! ) but it's experimental to say the least.

On my phone, so can't post it but the LI team is also heavily rotated from last week. Very few first choice players in the 23.

Probably not the spectacle the league had in mind at the start of the season. Hopefully a decent game all the same.

There are still some very quality players out there, but they will struggle for chemistry. I am guessing Ealing will kick for the sticks at every opportunity like they did against Leeds last year when they did the same thing. Peter's boot will come in very handy.

London Irish: 15 Alivereti Veitokani, 14 Topsy Ojo, 13 Brendan Macken, 12 Fergus Muclhrone ©, 11 Matt Williams, 10 Jacob Atkins, 9 Brendan McKibbin, 1 Harry Elrington, 2 Motu Matu’u, 3 Pat Cilliers, 4 Barney Maddison, 5 Teofilo Paulo, 6 Albert Tuisue, 7 Conor Gilsenan, 8 Matt Rogerson

Replacements: 16 Saia Fainga’a, 17 Lovejoy Chawatama, 18 Manasa Saulo, 19 Sebastian de Chaves, 20 Jake Schatz, 21 Scott Steele, 22 Stephen Myler

The bolded players are the only London Irish ones who would get in a first choice XV, so don't write yourself off too early Ealing fans!

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

Would love for Ealing to win this one just so it's not business as usual. Despite the weaker side as mentioned above, the Ealing players picked will no doubt go all out for the win.
