I was also there !. I honestly believe we would have scored several more Try`s if the Jersey Reds had not given away so many penalties in the RED zone / inside their 22. Their plan was to spoil ball at every opportunity ( which I accept part of every gameplan ) but the Jersey Reds took it onto another level and yes it did cost them yellow cards and ultimately cost them the game in my opinion.

The `spoiling` of good ball by Aaron Penberthy with a one handed knock on ( downwards motion ) which would have been a certain try for our wing James Cordy Redden was cynical and deserved more than a knock on . It deserved a minimal yellow but could have been given as a RED for deliberately knocking on to stop the certain try.

The officials had a bad day ! I have not seen officiating so bad ever in the Championship. On my marking system they got  #* $~+%Censored

Gosh No7, 11 days on you're still quite worked up about this game, aren't you? Hope it (your team did win remember) didn't spoil your Christmas.

If you check the laws, you'll see there's no provision for red-carding players for the offence you described, which by the way didn't match how I saw it - a player making a genuine attempt to intercept the pass, and still Red cover outside (albeit 1 player against 2) meaning the try was not a certainty.

I said at the time the Penberthy incident was borderline, but that overall I didn't think Ealing could be too aggrieved given that they won the game and Jersey indiscipline was punished elsewhere by the 1-3 yellow card count, and penalty concession numbers of (approx) 8-15. There's also been a citing for a dangerous tackle by Zi Alexis just before HT - the hearing is tomorrow. I guess if he emerges with anything less than sine die you'll be complaining about that as well?

I took your advice and found this on the LAWS OF THE GAME.

9. FOUL PLAY........ A Player who commits foul play must either be cautioned or temporarily suspended or sent off.

HEADINGS UNDER FOUL PLAY.

Obstruction. ......... A player must not intentionally prevent an opponent from having the opportunity to play the ball, other than by competing for possession.

Unfair Play .......... A player must not: Intentionally infringe any law of the game.

Repeated infringements.......A team must not repeatedly infringe the laws.

Dangerous play.

Misconduct..........A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship.

A player who commits foul play must be either be cautioned or temporarily suspended or sent off.

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

I think it will be easier to move on when we finally have a game again. Uggg...the scheduling this year is frustrating.
