Some cracking games there. Good for Sky I was wondering whether I could see the second half of the game at the RAG after the Jersey match and still catch the last flight from Gatwick but avoid the result is now the game plan.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Predictions:

Ealing 2-5 Jersey This could go either way and could easily be 3 points all. Part of me recognises that Ealing have far more chance of making it a contest with Irish but I'll back the team I follow to win by a handful of points and hope for good conditions or at least a dry day and try not to whinge if Trailfinders win.

Mond 4-1 Blues - A real contest between a great home pack and a team I would watch anywhere who can score tries for fun on their day. I hope the bar staff at the RAG actually broach the barrels of real beer this week rather than simply tease visiting supporters. I will record the match and watch it with a glass of Kwak Belgian beer when I get back to Jersey.

Nottingham 4-0 Coventry - On their day Notts can beat anyone and are hitting form so I favour a home win.

Hartpury 0-5 Irish - Banker which may give the home side a chance.

Donny 5-2 Yorkies - This should be an absolute cracker and could go either way which I hope to see in Madeira if Sky transmits that far.

Pirates 4-1 Scottish Could go either way but at home Pirates should have the edge by 4-6 points.

Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

No use asking me that one mate - I think its something to do with Sky Go and the more tech savi generation of the carrot family set it all up in advance on an ipad. When it fails I trawl around the sports & Irish bars in Funchal looking helpless and hoping someone will sort it for me. I bet the weather is a bit milder in Gran Canaria than Madeira.

so the league is finally back. here are my predictions:
Ealing 5-2 Jersey - a cracking match in store which I wish Sky was covering. Ealing at home to win by less than 7 points.
Richmond 1-5 Bedford - Blues are a quality outfit and will outscore Richmond.
Nottingham 4-1 Coventry - two very good teams on their day but like both cup games between the two teams home advantage will be important.
Hartpury 0-5 London Irish - this should be comfortable for Irish.
Doncaster 1-4 Yorks Carnegie - hurts to write this as a Donny fan but Carnegie are in far better form.
Cornish Pirates 5-0 London Scottish - Pirates to take down the other Exiles at the Mennaye.

It seems like the start of the season again following the longest pre-season ever.

Nevertheless, here are my gueses:

Ealing 2 - 5 Jersey ... Weather looks overcast, but dry and reasonably warm with light winds. Loads of running rugby on the plastic. If the Reds can keep the ball away from the ET forwards, as they did against LI, then I think that we can pull off the win in a high scoring thriller.
Richmond 0 - 5 Bedford ... Mond will not be a pushover, despite my prediction, but I think that the Bedford flair will out in the last quarter.
Nottingham 4 - 1 Coventry ... Nottingham looking good this season and they should win a close and entertaining encounter against a very capable opposition.
Hartpury 0 - 5 LI ... Hartpury must be sick of playing the Irish by now and I can't see them getting anything from this one...again!!
Donny 1 - 5 YC ... Really tough one to predict this one, but I think that Carnegies new recruits should be bedded in enough now to give their hosts a tough time of it. However, you can never be sure in this fixture.
Pirates 5 - 0 LS ... LS have been a tough nut to crack recently and will provide some stiff opposition at the Mennaye. However, the Pirates are so difficult to beat at home I can't see anything less than a comfortable home win in the end.

Great to be back to league action. Good luck everyone, stay safe and have a very Merry Christmas.

Ealing 5 - 1 Jersey … I think that the cup has done a huge amount of good for Ealing, in particular in letting them gel defensively. I'm not seeing the stupid penalties from early in the season, and they are creating some turnovers finally. Given that I need to miss this game (stupid Christmas), I'll predict that they win 42-24 in an excellent match.
Richmond 0 - 5 Bedford ... Mond really took their foot off the gas during the cup. I worry that their cohesion will suffer.
Nottingham 4 - 1 Coventry ... Nottingham very up and down. I'll pick them to win a close one at Lady Bay.
Hartpury 0 - 5 LI ... You have to be feeling that with YC bringing in a nice haul of new signings, Hartpury is looking likely for the drop. Being battered by LI isn't going to help that.
Donny 4 - 1 YC ... I think that Donny will show up to play at home against their Yorkshire rivals and pip them at the death.
Pirates 5 - 0 LS … The Pirates Arrrgh going to be on cloud nine after beating Irish, and I think that they'll bring that into the league fixture.

Given the way the fixtures are scheduled over the holiday season I hope we see a few Scottish & Irish supporters to watch the match at Vallis Way on Saturday even if they are they are more likely to support the home team. A decent crowd always adds to the occasion imo - a few carols at half time would also be nice.
