I make you right Mike. Nothing against the boys at all, but you cannot have league converts at 10,12,13,14 & expect anything more than constant contact, primarily because of their instincts added to the "no consequences" of isolation in league. We have Lancs U20 fly half on the bench & we selected a boy who's played union for two months. They do give their all for sure, but like Sten, I think they need to learn the game first in the Two's... That brings me on to another point. We are spreading ourselves to thin, because we've got to field a competitive team in the 2nd's premier. I believe we have the players to compete at the top of nw1, but have to select boys in the Two's who could easily play in the 1st. A quandary I know & something that the coaches have to think seriously about. I personally would field our strongest XV & take the drop in the Two's back to a manageable level. Just my opinion BTW. COYGB.

I mostly agree. I don't know what goes on in training and who is shining etc, but having seen every game so far this season except lune and most games for the last few years, I have a reasonable idea of what I'm looking at. I'm not going to publicly name who I think should play and who shouldn't and why as I don't think it's fair on the lads, but suffice it to say I agree there are too many lads new to the code who've all ended up in the team at the same time. It's changed the way we play and not for the better. Need a union minded 10 and we need to utilise our pace out wide a whole lot more. Cave and Allen would take some stopping for 80 mins of expansive play. Nothing wrong with using our big lads to smash holes through the middle, just not every time.

We've got two teams working together as a squad which is absolutely fantastic, but 1sts always needs to be the priority.

Just my humble opinion.

Like I've said before, it's not like we're getting spanked every week, just need a few tweaks here and there.

Whoever takes the field, they'll have my support, whatever that's worth!

Very possible and in some cases, likely. In the most part they have definitely strengthened the squad significantly.

Someone always has to miss out with only 18 spots available.

Absolutely & I'm not having a pop, far from it as they have definitely brought something new . Call me old fashioned, but I just think key positions should be filled with a union boy. Early season we had tupou smashing it up @12 with Lavelle's wheels @13 adding to a rapid back three including a league lad @15, scoring 30+ points every game looking really dangerous. Now it appears a bit one dimensional with two hammers in midfield. Again, it's just my opinion.

Yes we did. It was working well. At that point we just needed to sort out the defence, which compared to other teams in our league, is actually pretty good.

The heavy going is always an issue for teams such as ours in the winter, hopefully the upturn in conditions should coincide with us reaching our potential in terms of experience and teamwork and see us right. Just got to grind it out for now I think.

send the league lads up the middle to punch holes, play out the back of them to get wide

couple ways of doing it  -when crashing up - have 12/13 go straight off 9 or off a forward on a tips and have the 10 sit behind the 12, meaning 9 or forward can pull it out the back of the big lads

use the blind side winger or 15 if the winger has terrible hands to link the same way but off 10

either play with ball handling 10/12 or have a 15 who can handle like alex goode

or be resigned to being 1 dimensional with no plan B

Well, there you have it, straight from the horses mouth from a kid who has played a bit and knows what  he is talking about.  The point is, are 'Loo up to executing the plan?  They could always offer Ratboy a job as backs coach!!

after receiving a straight red on Saturday, for an act of sheer foolishness, I suspect your hooker won't be playing tomorrow.

Just watched the highlights of Saturdays game on YouTube. Good tries from the backs but woeful defending for their tries. As I suggested last month, a mid table finish is the best we can hope for. Shame the influx of rugby league converts has led to an exodus of some more local talent.

Burnage owe thanks to the 'Loo camera operator for sharing.
The video has appeared on the Club's various faecesbook pages to the delight of the vast majority who can't be bothered to travel.
