I think rumble has been a firm critic of every waterloo team since this website was formed.

Rossendale just missed out on promotion to national 2 with worse facilities than waterloo.
I'm not proposing you turn the place into Disney land but commercially it's a joke.
Next season there's an opportunity to capitalise on the fact support will travel to watch their team beat the once mighty waterloo.
South lancs one beckons unless somebody turns the club around and that would be a shame.
Chester will be trying follow caldy into national 1 , good luck to them both. Obviously well run clubs.

KPITS... Don't know who u are pal, nor what team you go n watch on Saturday's. But let's get one thing clear... if u can show me a better atmosphere than the memorial ground across the lower echelons of club rugby, I'll show my 4rse in woolys window. Most have one man either with or without his dog, along with a few steadfast elderlies with little or no atmosphere created. Now I'm sure that most of not all who gave come to blundellsands over the last few years leave wishing they had such vociferous support. NW1 will sample such next term & leave thinking just the same thing.

Your missing the point. waterloo have a fan Base that could be grown plus a history.
Why are you in north 1?
You've got good facilities, good support, a recognised brand name. Everyone has heard of waterloo.
Wirral finished in the top half of the table operating out of a clubhouse in a farmers field without paying any players.
Is it sheer bad luck or poor management.

Just my opinion but... The club at present is a world away from the one I walked into some ten years ago. The decisions made last year was brave, some may say stupid. It's a long burner & I believe now has more people pulling in the same direction, time will tell.

I'm not having a dig it just amazes me how poorly some clubs promote themselves.
Play an attractive brand of rugby, entertain.
Get your junior sides to take turns playing pre match.give them, their parents free entry and a cone of chips to watch the match with.
Automatically you've upped your gate, improved the atmosphere.
The parents will come back and watch with their kids if they're made welcome.
Once you've got them in the ground get them to drink as much pop, beer, gin and tonic! with pies, chips and ice cream.bouncy castles face painting a guy dressed us as napoleon taking the cash on the gate? Try anything!
Instead nothing and when loo get beat they head straight out the exit again.
Waterloo are a first class example of how not to run a once great institution.
Your in the entertainment business as soon as you charge someone for the privilege of watching you play.
You've got to make it a day out.

10 posts all negative towards towards Waterloo .... you must have an axe to grind for some reason ...

maybe you'll be taken seriously when you contribute pro's & cons around the division rather than just negatives against a team you don't support ...  you were only there last year for the Lymm game which from memory Waterloo won, there was also a decent crowd, no one went straight out the gate because Waterloo lost, what other clubs have weekly bouncy castles & face painting at this level?

Back to the subject, personally I am very concerned - the team has lost its best / most experienced players for the second season on the trot ....

The reason people comment upon Loo is that the thread has become the default post whether out of boredom, envy or spite.

I don't pretend to have any knowledge of the story behind the club's demise but something is clearly wrong. Perhaps Loo members should consult Manchester when they meet next season?

Bit harsh considering you want a Waterloo stalwart to run your prediction league next year...!

Fair point and as Waterloo won't be featuring in it, it's clearly a labour of love.

Interesting debate emerging over the most recent posts. Irrespective of whether the squad will be competitive or otherwise next season, there is a distinct lack of any form of communication from the club/management. With all due respect, if I was an outsider I would know more about the performance of the ladies team or juniors than even knowing a first team existed according to the website.

As an occasional viewer of this thread and following the fate of the Loo 1st XV , it interests me that in the coming season your 2nd team are stepping up to the NOWIRUL Premier Division. In past seasons this has been made up of 14 teams from clubs ranging from levels 3-6. Predictably, the National League 1 & 2 clubs were often far too strong for the rest and it led to many one-sided games. This really wasn't helping anyone. The league split at Christmas and the top & bottom seven then formed two conferences (A & B)which were much more competitive.

So, for the coming season, this split will happen from the beginning. The new Premier league will be made up of 8 teams which will play each other 4 times during the full season. Loo 2s finished top of Conference B and have been included in the new Premier division. Given that Fylde, Sedgley, Macc, Hoppers, Caldy, Chester & Sale FC all treat their 2nd teams as development routes for their National League 1sts then it will be tough for any other club stepping up unless they have decent strength in depth. And, from watching a fair bit of this level of rugby, the progression of Colts players to these teams can be a big ask.

Good luck to Loo 2s in this new competition.

That's a great point AF. Last season's Two's was a completely different animal at the end than from the team that started. In came some fantastic talent who along with a few old heads & coaching from Hopkin played fearless flowing fast paced rugby, culminating in a narrow "Best cup" final defeat by Fylde. Some of those boyscwill be stepping up into the first team & others going away to Uni & so will be interesting to see how they fair with h the next breed. Hopefully not the whipping boys!!!

It is  a good point but those people who follow the progress of the lower teams will know that it is difficult to maintain the quality needed to survive at the "elite" level. This inevitably leads to some heavy losses which in turn results in the loss of players.

I'm not party to Loo's plans but in order to survive and maintain a reasonable second team players will almost certainly need to be imported. Both Stockport ( after relegation) and Manchester ( after promotion) will be looking at the alternative scenarios and a Burnage poster has already identified the number of sides ( Burnage/ Wilmslow/M'cr/Port) looking to attract talent despite being located within a 5 ( I think) mile radius.

I don't think that Loo has rivals that close so they should be in a better position on the face of it .

It will be an interesting season!

I would have thought so especially as he's already in place and has connections to the club. I'm too far away to know more especially in terms of paying.
