When will any of these nations make it to the Rugby World Cup Final and when will they win the trophy. It is possible to beat southern hemisphere teams but it seems to take an exceptional effort. Will the dominance ever swing over to the Northern hemisphere ?.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

Not in the immediate future. Only England and France have a realistic chance of reaching the final or winning the World Cup. It's about strength in depth and also expectation.

Both Ireland and Wales were No 1 ranked teams in World Ranking before World Cup. I think "rub of the green" comes into it as well..
Wales were a penalty or drop goal away from beating South Africa. But the Springboks got the penalty.
Ireland unfortunately peaked a year too early.

What an odd thing to say, England were ranked below Wales and Ireland on results, France are currently a long way from winning anything at National level.

There's absolutely nothing odd in my previous comments at all. The world rankings are pretty much nonsense and count for almost zero when a world cup comes around.....just like in soccer.  In almost any area of life, the best predictor of future events is, not surprisingly, past events. Only 5 countries have ever made a World Cup final - the 3 southern hemisphere sides, us and France -and it's likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future. As I said, it's a question of strength in depth and also of that complete intangible - true belief and confidence. The 3 southern hemisphere sides ALWAYS truly believe that they will beat anyone from up here and that they'll make World Cup finals. We were very quiet and unassuming in our build up, but I know that there was a real confidence and belief within our squad, correctly as it turned out. Does anyone really think that Wales or Ireland really believed deep inside that they'd finish first or second?  I honestly don't think they did - for them a semi final was a real achievement, and so it turned out. Again. As for France, if you know anything about the mentality over here and the ability of the players, you'll know that they can beat anyone on their day. But for Sebastien Vahaamahina's stupid and very French act of indiscipline they'd probably have beaten Wales and gone into a semi against SA with both real hope and a great chance....and then who knows. The French believe that they can win against anyone, and having won the last two U20 World Cups they have a great crop of young players and will have an excellent chance in 2024 - regardless of their so called 'ranking'.

Ahh but the arrogance of the southern hemisphere sides(along with some posters on here) is often their undoing. Most of your statements smack of being clever with hindsight, something anyone can do, well after the event.

'Arrogance' as you call it is another word for self confidence and belief, and it is a huge part of having a winning mentality. If you don't really believe deep inside that you can win, you probably won't.
As for my views and hindsight, anyone who knows me and whom I've spoken to will tell you that I've  predicted before almost every World Cup - and certainly this one - that neither Wales, Ireland or Scotland would make the final, and probably not even the semi. Wales did however, and I also said that this time they'd have the best chance of the 3 by far. I was always very confident of our chances as well, because not only do we have the best coach in the northern hemisphere by far, but our key players were fit and playing well.
And I'll make pretty much the same prediction right now for 2024. Don't forget - you heard it here first.

I would by no means project my thoughts on international rugby to my ability to predict N2N scores. Over the last 2 seasons it has become much, much harder to work out. The reasons why are another story altogether.
