Wow the complexities. Here I was thinking amateur rugby was about the club ethos and playing with mates. National leagues (semi professional) is different and I understand that. Thankfully my club keeps it simple.

Rugby70....eating those words yet? 5 wins from 12 is hardly the form of a top 2 team.

Although I do think the 2nd half of the season is a lottery with most at the top not wanting to win promotion but those at the bottom playing hard to avoid relegation.....so perhaps Sidcup do finish right up there. I can see the top 2 having lost 7 or 8 games!

One score from a draw or win; Sidcup will be there in a very exciting and unusual league! Maybe some Premiership coaching is needed on how to close a game out as it is clearly wasted on the A3!

Sidcup to be sitting 9th at the half way stage...

Interesting dialogue.

I imagine that any decision to pay coaches and players is a club committee decision who will obviously consider carefully the impact of that approach on the club's ethos and future.

My nearest LPrem club have had youth teams with success at national level competition and a large number of the current squad have come through their youth programme. The quality of coaching and training is reputedly good. Some players have moved to the club from others but my sense is that they have moved to be part of something exciting rather than receive a few quid ( I have no idea of their policy on paying and not really my business).

My town club has a reasonably successful youth programme and a social adult rugby team. I would have no issue advising my best youth players to try their adult rugby at the local LPrem club confident in the belief a) they would be well-looked after and b) would come back to play social rugby if that suited them better.

The Surrey club where I played my L5 rugby still is L5 and I hear very much one club but again i have no idea on their pay policy.
What was wrong with calling it London 1?

And??

I could give you all manner of reasons for the result, but would hate to be see to be making excuses.  We got beat, we got over it, we got a 5 point win  the following week...

Can't wait for the sidcup train to de-rail further.

Rugby 70....just from what I saw on Saturday, Sidcup are on the way to being a very good team but I thought your forwards were very poor when it came to executing the basics in attacking areas.

Your backs looked quite dangerous with some good speed but as a team you went 78 minutes without scoring a try which with all the possession they had kind of screams of lack of imagination or experience of having an immovable defence in front of them.

Saturdays game can only have been good for them if that was the case.

Looking forward to the game at cup....hopefully we'll both be safe by then.

Calm down, calm down!

Carlos, very interesting that a team in 4th and in very good form have a similar mentality to our own despite being in 2nd....get to safety and the rest is a bonus. That is usually 10 wins and 50 points but this year I can see it being a fair bit more! Do any teams want to get promoted or should we just let Rochford in L1N go straight through?

Sidcup are a tough team and like the vast majority of the league will be competitive almost every week but you rightly say seem to have little cutting edge or X factor. I bet Sidcup have kicked the most penalties this year though with the small pitch!

I actually checked back to see if 50 meant safety. Unless someone really falls apart it will be nearer 60 this year.

Makes me think 'is is possible to have a decent team without money inducements'?
Why would a West London area prop who contacted Chobham asking if they were interested in him, to be told we don’t pay end up at Brighton who are 50 miles away?

As others have said, don’t believe all you’re told by committee members.

Or what you read on here LOL, think somebody must have been pulling you leg Cannon, just saying...

If your down for the game on Sat you can point him out to me!!
If it's JR your on about, he did train for a couple of weeks at Brighton but never played. Think he's playing for another Sussex rugby club. Hope this helps.

I may be wrong then, I’ll get the name for you.

I’m reffing this weekend so I won’t be there.

Is this a level 5 forum or now level 6. Brighton pay, who cares, they will get found out in level 5. Too many people on the forum that know the truth; keep it to your own forum for at least this season.

Sorry Rugby70, as you have posted comment regarding L6 on your forum (November 2018) thought it was OK.
Will just sit back and read your forum now, have a good evening.
