France, even a misfiring France, too strong for the Italians

Ireland, looking like the class act and the Grand Slam champions elect but I expect a good game with the Welsh putting up a huge fight

England, Scotland will play out of their skins against the "old enemy" but I believe England will be too strong

here are my score predictions:
France 21-23 Italy - if Italy can cut out some silly errors then I think they can shock the French. they certainly seem to have more of a cutting edge this season. also France are missing a lot of good players who've been suspended. Picking Bastareaud at centre shows the dire state French rugby is in.

Ireland 19-13 Wales - I expect a tight and tense game in Dublin, not a try scoring extravaganza but it will be a great game nevertheless. just think Ireland's kicking game may starve the welsh backs of enough ball in the right areas of the pitch. if Ireland win this then a Grand Slam decider at Twickenham awaits.

Scotland 22-29 England - Scotland haven't won this fixture for a decade but this is probably their best shot since that last victory in 2008. if England perform as we have done so far then we'll lose this game but I think we will step it up a little. Scotland will score a try at Murrayfield v England at last but I'm not sure it will be enough. I could be wrong though.

I think the move away from Paris should energise the French, and am hopeful they will deliver their big performance in round 3, rather than round 4. There was a suggestion this week in the Grauniad blog that each nation should take one match away from their 'main' base every 6th year, which I think is a good idea (altho' can't see the Welsh going for that, it would cost them lots of pounds)

I think Ireland are fallible and Wales might just take the opportunity. Also one shouldn't dismiss the Irish visit to Edinburgh as a foregone conclusion.

England should have a dry track and would hope we have enough to edge the Scots...

Losing BPs for Ireland & Wales on Sat, but nowt for the Italians the night before...

Islander, Ireland are at home to Scotland. I guess you meant Scotland's visit to Dublin instead of Ireland's to Edinburgh. I just think this is the worst French team in living memory. if Italy are ever going to win an away game in France, this is it.

ok, would concede that a Scottish win v Ireland is less likely away from home, but anyway, this is a round 3 prediction thread Embarrassed

A good friend, who is a proud Scot, wants to bet me ยฃ20 that Scotland will win against England. To tell the truth I never gamble on sport but should I have taken the bet??

France 4 - 1 Italy              France should have too much for Italy but the French are looking vulnerable if Italy score first who knows how the French will react

Ireland 5 - 0 Wales .            Ireland normally play brilliantly when they admit to being worried  about the loss of key players

England 4 - 2 Scotland         If Scotland had their first choice pack it could be very close still hope it will be they will score tries but not sure if they can stop England from scoring more

Well, itโ€™s only the Under-20โ€™s but this must count as the shock result of all so far ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ 24 - 17 ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ. I shall celebrate tonight as I fear for tomorrow.

well my confidence in Italy was erroneous as it turns out. same old story for them, poor discipline, unforced errors and poor at the breakdown. France were decent but I don't think England will be quaking in their boots watching that. two great games coming up tomorrow, I would discount home advantage in the Ireland/Wales game because as someone alluded to earlier, away wins in the fixture are very common. I have to admit that Scotland could beat England but they'd have to play out of their skins to do it, I think we will scrap and battle to a win, as is our wont at the moment it seems.

I feel gloomy about the Italians' lack of success, they brought something fresh to the tournament, away trips to Rome are great and most of us support them against any opponent other than our own team. But it's not working. They managed 2 wins in 2013, finishing 4th in the table, but since then they've only won 1 game out of 23, and of the 22 defeats only 2 have been within 7 points. Their teams show little sign of improvement in Pro 14/ Euro competition either...

After 19 years of the 6N, & 12 Italian wins, it's getting harder to justify the door being closed to other European nations, although the idea of relegation would cause concern to many of the established participants, in case they were to have a bad year and risk going down. I think the other 5 nations are probably happy as they are, but that doesn't make the status quo right.

"I think they have to understand that in international rugby you have to take opportunities and look after the ball, we made too many mistakes, maybe lost our cool a little bit and forced the game a little bit more than we should have. For a lot of these guys that would have been the first time they have been in that position but they will learn from that and the real test is to pick themselves up for France."

and now for the big boys ....

England cannot be so poor in the second half. We still have a whole lot to do. But that half merits a ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ
