All, no thoughts on this? Jersey take on Leinster A on the 21st April, who are probably the best team left in the competition and Ealing take on Bedford just days after they have to play away at YC in the league.

Has anybody got any comments on the last throws of this competition?

For me Leinster A will have the players to supplement the A squad to bolster the match day team. Bedford are a formidable team and have the huge advantage of a mass following ( in comparison ) to most.

Ealing are tough to beat at home and the prize of a cup final will hopefully motivate the team to perform and fire on all cylinders.

I want Jersey to win . Any ideas what is deemed to be a neutral ground for the final ?.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

Footes Lane in Guernsey is always fun although Jersey are due to play there on 5 May but if its Ealing or Bedford v Jersey I would vote for ODP which would be easy for both supporters and a great venue.

Presumably that would rule out the grounds in the Richmond/Twickenham area M728 including the Stoop. May have to be Footes Lane after all then or spin a coin and play it at one of the finalists grounds. If Bedford get through GR would be absolutely mobbed - Jersey certainly have some decent memories there.

I was under the impression that, as top seeds, if Ealing were to win their semi-final then they would host the final?

Or did I just dream this?

It worked that way last season TPT but the regulations:

Seem to suggest it may be different this season:
5.3.4 The winners of the two semi-final Matches will proceed to the British & Irish Cup Final.  The Cup Final will be played on a date and at a venue determined by the Committee.

So still a possibility that it could be Footes Lane.

from a purely selfish point of view i'd love the final to be at Castle Park but absolutely zero chance of it happening. two cracking semis in store. I think Blues may just beat Ealing, i think the Blues fans are top notch and will probably swamp Vallis Way turning home advantage around. Ealing looked pretty tired at Donny today. as for the other semi I would have to pick Leinster A but never right off Jersey at St Peter. I would like an all championship final. Jersey v Ealing/Bedford would be top notch.

I am happy with Castle Park as a venue. There is a direct flight to an airport 5 miles away, cow pie, beer and Curry extraordinaire down the road. I would go to a final in CP even if it's Leinster v Bedford or Ealing.

well my fanciful suggestion won't go ahead I doubt very much but at least you'll be able to come to CP on the 28th April CC. should be a good game that as well.

Just had a look at Google Maps and Exeter , Sandy Park is fairly between  Jersey and Ealing . Just one minor detail or two Ealing have to beat Bedford first ! and Jersey Leinster AConfused

Oh ! and is Sandy Park Available. Who makes the decision ???.

What sort of crowd do they get for that these days?  It's hardly likely to cause so much congestion that the police would refuse to allow a game around the corner!

It will be one of the Finalists as with previous years.......if on SKY then it will be Ealing or Bedford. If not on SKY then the other SF

bit puzzled by this conjecture about a 'Bertie Bassett' collection of potential host venues like Guernsey, Old Deer Park or somewhere oop north. As Welshie says, it's likely to be hosted by one of the finalists, although I've not heard anything definite about whether Sky will dictate the venue as he's suggested...

It would be nice to get to the final to then have the problem of where the final will be played.

Leinster have their Champions Cup semi final on the same day as the B&I semi, so I was hoping that this would have a marked effect on the strength of the Leinster A side that would travel to Jersey. I then had the realisation that Leinster have a very deep pool of talent to draw from, so regardless, Jersey will be up against it.
If we bring our A game, then I think that it will be extremely close and I pray that with the help of the home support Jersey can prevail.

The other semi is mouth watering. Ealing have had a mammoth season and are 2nd in the league and No.1 seeds in the B&I Cup purely on merit. They have dropped off in the past few weeks, but this is understandable as their league season has finished (as far as final placings are concerned) and they are now looking towards this game. Make no bones about it, they will be formidable at home.
If any side is capable of taking the game to Ealing, then it is Bedford. They score points for fun, creating opportunities all over the park. The key to this semi final is how the Bedford defence performs. If it turns up, then I can see Bedford sneaking a win in a high scoring encounter.

The other important factor will be the man in the middle. Hopefully, they will allocate some top referees for these games. I am assuming that we will see a neutral Welsh referee in Jersey. Nigel Owens would be good!!

I hear that the Romanian referee's nowadays are top-notch. Maybe the RFU will see if they can get one of those?

The forecast could not be better for Saturday. Low 20's, lots of sunshine and light winds....perfect!

from what I saw in the pool stages Jersey will have to be on top form to turn Leinster A over but at home it could happen. best of luck to Jersey.

With the form Jersey are in at present they have to have a very good chance. Plus the home advantage and the fact that the Leinster A team selection tends to chop and change a lot. I think the Jersey XV would be a bit more settled.

It would be good to see an all Championship final!
