And I think Cov need a 5-0 at Headingley to get a home tie (if I have that correct, without checking).

Whatever, it looks like an away tie!

Yks only scored three tries today, so I make it they have 18 and Cov 17, so any Cov win next Sat would get them above Yks and into top 4. Irish (24), Reds (21) and Ealing (21) all guaranteed home QFs...

The 5 teams above will all be in the QFs, plus Pirates and [editing now] Blues. Then I believe 1 of Donny or Nott will miss out.

It is best two 3rd placed teams hence Blues qualification already.

Qualified Pool 1 Coventry & Yorkshire
Qualified Pool 2 Ealing & Jersey both have a home game next round
Qualified Pool 3 Irish (home game), Pirates, Blues

Knights v Nottingham decides the final spot.

If Nottingham win it will be the Top 7 of the league plus bottom.

Not a problem, all of these clubs will enjoy the £10k in prize money they get along with a share of gate receipts.

Conversely we gave you way too many silly penalties in the red zone - the only reason you were still in the game at half time. And if our break away try had been nearer the posts it would have been 31 a piece and in my opinion a more reasonable outcome / result. Ce la vie - to the victor goes the spoils. maybe we will meet again in the semi finals / finals Wink with one point difference scored between the two games it could be another close one.

P.S. the pitch held up nicely.
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Ah but, two of those three kicked pens in the 'red zone' were kicked from all of 45 metres...

My statement was purely referencing the two moments of madness which closed the gap right up in stoppage time, when up the jumper should have been the order of the day.

Besides, but for the woodwork, we'd have won at CP too.

C'est la vie

In the red zone? Rob Knox’s two penalties were from outside your 10m line - cracking long shots.
Your team’s best attempt at a red zone penalty give away wasn’t awarded. A blatant pat-a-cake deliberate knock-on interception of the final pass to an unmarked winger which the referee saw, and awarded only a scrum.

The red zone is in my opinion wherever it is make able and with that wind it would have been your own 10m line. And stop being so antsy

Interesting no one has mentioned said knock on before now.  It was right in front of me and the Doncaster player clearly had no chance of catching it - although not, however, in the eyes of the ref and his assistant.  Had it been a Premiership match I think they would also have reviewed the fact that the intended recipient of the pass had a potential run in - although I think there was defensive cover in this case.

I mention this not to have a go at Doncaster or their supporters - it's water under the bridge now - but because this law is a particular bug-bear of mine.  In my opinion any one-handed attempt at an interception that goes to ground should be a penalty and a yellow card when in the red zone.  It would take the referee's conjecture out of the equation.

I was right in line with it Rob, and from behind the player thought it was totally deliberate. I cannot understand how the officials didn’t - the referee discussed it with his assistant, and then awarded the scrum. Based on that all I can assume is that neither actually saw the event, but just saw the ball bounce forward.

Sadly it was one of many things (by both teams) he didn’t see.

I was right by the officials Nick.  The ref basically said he thought it was accidental and the assistant, predictably, agreed.  I did suggest to both that there was no way the player could have caught the ball but, for some reason, didn't receive a response...

It's water under the bridge now and the ref seemed to find another arm as the match went on.
