The Jersey streak is over, beaten 16-20 by Ealing. A deserved win - Ealing only had a 7-point lead at HT and had to play into horrendous conditions in 2nd half, but after conceding 6 early points their handling, game management and discipline were superb. I believe it's 21-pts all on top of our pool, with the Reds still just ahead on tries scored...

Fully agree with this to turn round only 7 points up in those conditions and win was little short of brilliant by Ealing. Jersey's decision making at half back in the second half was at times truly awful but take nothing away from that performance by Ealing - I hope we meet them in the final in better conditions and look forward to the match at VW on 22nd. Have a great night and safe journey home lads.

Just seen Blues, Pirates, Irish, Jersey, Ealing, Coventry have so far qualified. Then 2 from 3 Notts, Yorks, Knights.

I was convinced that Ealing would never hold out with only a seven point lead. Aaron Penberthy kicked well in the early third quarter. The Ealing performance in the second half was exceptional and in my opinion some best rugby played them this season. The standout was Jordy Reid. I spoke to Glen Townsen after the match and he was quite rightly beaming on his forwards performance and credit to him.

Ben Ward was visibly frustrated by the lack of enforcement of the offside. To be fair both sides were equally offside for most of the game.

The other huge win was the Ealing Trailfinders U16,s win by 7 to 12. The best the they have played. I always enjoy Jersey win or lose.

Have a great weekend no7. Penbo will know he should never have dropped that goal or kicked the pen. In those conditions if the half backs had their minds on the job the 5 metre line was where the Jersey forwards needed to be. Given the conditions how many short line out mauls did anyone count second half. The best side won and so did rugby today. Great performance by Ealing.

Simply Ealing played the conditions so much better than Jersey and they learned from Jerseys 1st half mistakes into the wind.
I will put myself on the line here though, on Ealings plastic and in calmer conditions, Jersey will take Ealing apart in the backs in 2 weeks time for the league game. 5 points to nil to Jersey, you heard it here first!!!

Top man Brizzer and although it would be an awful result for the league I am crazily going on 22nd and believe Jersey can stuff Ealing on their day and win - but still hope Ealing push Irish all the way. I struggle in predicting a Jersey loss which is a bit sad given all the practice I've had but on 22nd I predict jersey will narrowly win but both sides will score 4 tries. Could the rfu stream that match. - please?

Seems strange that a Jersey supporter would view a win at Ealing in a fortnight as "an awful result for the league". The Reds could go 2nd by achieving that result, and are just 7 points behind Irish who we visit next month. I'm not for a moment saying that I'd expect the Reds to win away at the top 2 - they do seem to be the strongest sides on the basis of the season so far and should win their home games. But rather than just write off the title race as one with only two horses, shouldn't Jersey - and other clubs in the top half - be ambitious and shoot for the stars? If cats are hurled among pigeons as a result, so be it!

I thought the Reds' second-half tactics were perfect yesterday - for five minutes. When trailing by 7, get into Ealing territory, take three points, and repeat, reducing the lead to 1. But after that, we failed to repeat and Ealing took control - as mentioned, a terrific effort by them in some of the worst weather I've seen. Apparently there was a football match just up the road where the teams came off for 10 minutes so they didn't get hurt by the hailstones!

Spot on Islander.
One last note, I do hope that the Ealing No6 is ok. He took a nasty shoulder to the head, purely accidental, and was literally unconscious whilst upright... never seen that before. He staggered back into position (the benefits of training) and thankfully the game didn’t go back through his channel despite the Ealing backs, the Jersey bench, the 4th official, the AR and the balcony screaming at the ref to stop the game so that he could be treated. Apparently they had technical issues and the comms were intermittent.
I spoke to the lad after the game and to say that he was groggy was an understatement.
Fingers crossed for him that he makes a speedy but safe return.

A real shame. Kieran Murphy just came back from a long-term injury about a month ago as well. This is where Ealing's depth is so important - brining in Durutalo was no real drop off.
