Ealing Trailfinders team to play London Scottish at the Athletic Ground in Round Three of the Championship Cup: Very puzzled by this line up - especially by Willis at 12. I'm not sure what Ealing is trying to accomplish; they aren't playing quite their first team, so they aren't gelling, but they aren't playing their academy/developmental players either. Pretty baffled unless there are injuries of which I am unaware.

15 David Johnston 14 Howard Packman 13 Guy Armitage 12 Craig Willis 11 Will Harries 10 Laurence May 9 Jordan Burns 1 Alex Lundberg 2 Alun Walker 3 George Davis 4 Ben West 5 Harry Casson 6 Rohan O’Regan 7 Jordy Reid 8 Rayn Smid (c)

Replacements:

16 Matt Cornish 17 Jordan Els 18 Ben Betts 19 Tom Denton 20 Kieran Murphy 21 Ryan Foley 22 Lewis Jones

Interesting. From the team that faced Jersey, which I know was a strong, but probably not 1st choice squad, only 5 players retain a starting position with another 5 on the bench.
Without a doubt, the name that was not involved in the Jersey game, but catches the eye, is at 13. G. Armitage ... still a quality signing.

Yeah - I saw Guy wandering around at Richmond last weekend. Not sure why he is so in and out of the line up. But I could say that for a lot of players.

.......and finally the beeb has added the Championship Cup tables to it's page..........
At least last year (? or the year before?) they managed to open the B&I table before the 2nd round!

Looking forward to a good weekend of rugby, both on TV and twitter!

1 Nathanael Tichard-Jones - up from bench to replace injured James Gibbons
2 Darren Dawidiuk - starting debut, after two bench starts allowing Scott Tolmie to rest
3 Biyi Alo -
4 Tom Jubb - up from bench replacing injured Alec Woolford

Quite a few changes for Jersey this week, including some position changes.
Certainly not the first choice Reds side, but lots of quality on the field and a very good bench. This will be a competitive squad who want to make an impression whilst pushing for league selection.

We know that Mond will be big up front, let's see how this one pans out.

Backs (15-9)

Jason Worrall
James Newey
Apakuki Ma'afu (capt)
George Eastwell
Jack Stapley
Aaron Penberthy
Hilton Mudariki

Forwards (1-8)

Harry Morley
Jack Macfarlane
Sam Rodman
Dave McKern
Charlie Beckett
Rory Bartle
Graham Geldenhuys
Kyle Hatherell

Replacements (16-22)

Nick Selway, Roy Godfrey, Zi Alexis, Adam Batt, Jake Upfield; Calum Waters, Brett Herron

Offy Preview:

Predictions:

London Scottish 2-5 Ealing Trailfinders Should be a great game and could go either way but Trailfinders will want a home match in the knock out phase.
Yorkshire Carnegie 2-5 Doncaster Knights Both sides should progress to the knock out phase but winner should get a home draw.
Jersey 5-1 Richmond Lots of changes in both teams but Jersey have a really strong bench and will surely want 5 points at home.
Coventry 1-4 Nottingham Two well matched sides but Notts are overdue a win in the pool.
Cornish Pirates 5-0 Hartpury College I award Pirates banker status which must give Hartpury a good chance.
London Irish 5-2 Bedford Blues
Surely the tie of the round between two quality teams. lots of tries but Myler to convert everything and secure the win.

Blues have named almost their best team (missing about 3/4 players), something they didn't do in the league fixture.
starting line-up:
15. Rich Lane
14. Pat Tapley
13. Ed Coulson
12. Chris Czekaj
11. Ryan Hutler
10. Lewis Robling
9. Alex Gliksten

1. Sean McCarthy
2. Charlie Clare
3. Alex Penny
4. Ed Taylor (c)
5. Mark Flanagan
6. Justin Blanchet
7. Josh Buggea
8. Jarad Williams

Replacements:
16. Tadgh McElroy
17. Hayden King
18. Ben Cooper
19. Oli Curry
20. Huw Worthington
21. Lee Dickson
22. Harry Davies

LS 0 - 5 ET ... Ealing good all over the park with a squad in depth. Anything other than a good away win will be a shock.
YC 1 - 4 DK ... Well, one of the great Leedshire derbies and I think that this one will be a cracker. I just think that the Carnegie re-building is still ongoing and a tight away win is on the cards.
Jersey 5 - 0 Richmond ... Only 3 Mond players in the squad from the league fixture a few weeks ago, so lots of changes from both sides. I just think that the Reds will have too much fire power in this one, especially off of the bench.
Cov 1 - 4 Nottingham ... Lip smacking this one. I thjink that Nottingham will have just a tiny bit more, but only a tiny bit. A point either way.
Pirates 5 - 0 Hartpury ... A Mennaye pasting in store for the boys from Glos.
LI 5 - 2 Bedford ... Wow! this could be a cricket score. IF the Bedford Blues can keep their discipline and IF the Bedford forwards can hold their own, then this could be really tight. However, be assured of one thing, there will be tries in abundance!

Predictions
LS 0 - 5 Eal
YC 4 - 1 Don
Jer 5 -1 Rich
Cov 4 - 1 Nott (if the ad hoc forwards can get enough ball to the lightning backs)
Corn 5 - 0 Hart
LI 5 - 1 Beds

LS 0 - 5 Eal
YC 0 - 4 Knights (Carnegie on the Road so no home advantage - got to fancy the Knights who will likely have more supporters there than Carnegie)
Jer 5 - 0 Rich
Looking at the Nottingham Team selection I am going to have to give that one to Coventry and at a guess 5 and 0 (Key players missing from the Nottingham team - if they had fielded the team they played against us I reckon they could have shaved this one in a much tighter Cov 1 Nottingham 4 but alas I think too much meddling with that squad, in key positions, potentially describes a possible lack of appetite for the cup by Nottingham.)
CP 5 - 0 Hart
LI 5 - 2 Blues

Can't make it to Jersey this w/e but will watch the tweets. Chance for for second stringers to show what they can do. Glad to see the lad I'm sponsoring getting his first chance this season.

CPK, if you think that Cov will win because of the changes that Nottingham have made to their squad, why have you gone for a Nottingham win in your prediction?

Cov 5 Nots 0
if same team as against us Cov 1 - Nots 4

sorry if not clearly elaborated - I was hoping for a Nots win to be fair (for selfish reasons of course)
