The obvious solution it to drop the cup and expand the Championship to 16 sides.

You would retain Hartpury, and get Ampthill, Blackheath and Rosslyn Park in addition to Old Elthamians - and on current form it is hard to put a fag packet between the four of them in terms of playing strength.

It would save Moseley and Esher from relegation and stop the rest of us worrying about our NAt 1 status.

Of course, unless you can find a generous sponsor, it would mean taking £150k less each from RFU funds.
The loss of £150K kills it I suspect but I'm also not sure what adding 3 more London teams and one near London team would do for rugby on a National level.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Not particularly difficult - 267 is a paltry attendance that Trailfinders should be ashamed of.

Disappointed even saddened but not ashamed. The club house was packed after the game with an incredible atmosphere. The gate count ,I am told does not include the season ticket holders and again does count kids of which there were hundreds.

The club grounds are used everyday night and day with 3 flood lit pitches and floodlt training areas. I say they are the most used rugby pitches in the country !

I for one am very proud of what Trailfinders have achieved and Ealing Rugby club in partnership . When Worthing play at any level at Ealing Trailfinders I would enjoy showing you the facilities and introducing you to some of the very dedicated supporters.

Unfortunately you cannot choose where teams come from unless you move to a franchise model.
Given results follow population and money - and both are increasingly concentrated in the South East - then you expect more senior sides to be in the South East.
Also Rugby is still less biased to the South East than other minority sports.

Sadly the cup is confirmed as happening next season. I do hope they move away from having 6 Cup weekends on the bounce during the months when the pitches are in good shape- but maybe that was because of the new tackle height trial?
One day this pain will make sense to you

A bit like the ludicrous situation currently surrounding Brexit then. If you don't get the result you want the first time, just try again with the same plan, and expect a different outcome.

I expect they'll foist some other ridiculous experimental law on us too.

I assume I'm not completely out of step by wanting to see competitive league rugby instead?

How true - <span style="caret-color: rgb44, 45, 48; color: rgb44, 45, 48; font-family: "Proxima Nova Regular", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px;">"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."</span>
To generate interest they need to give some different teams to play, and/or a big enough chunk of cash to make the teams care.

I think you will find that Worthing and Ealing were in the same league within the last 15 years - your sugar daddy funding a number of promotions to get you where you are today (desperately struggling to get into the premiership even if this means 15-20 new players each year)

I think you will find it was not that long ago. I think the Worthing stalwart Kiba Richards was with you then us at Ealing Trailfinders . He played very close to fifty games. I enjoyed the trips to Worthing win or lose. You have a great set up and a thriving club.

Mike Gooley being described as a Sugar Daddy does not do the man justice in reality . He created Trailfinders Sports Club from nothing and has supported Ealing Rugby Club for 20 years .........hardly a `sugar daddy` in the context you are trying to depict . Whenever ever I see these types of comments it just shows your ignorance of the facts and always smacks of a certain amount of jealousy.

My offer still stands if you ever visit with any Worthing team I would love to show you around.

I thought I heard the final is being played at Franklin Gardens... won't that be a great Atmosphere if Ealing played Yorkshire.  It would be like you get sometimes on a plane everyone could take a row for themselves!

Thought all knock out competitions were All Pay, so Ealing not counting season ticket holders doesn't make much difference.  Strange policy as well, imagine any Football Club not counting them their crowd would be a third of reality!

Ealing really are numpties about this. I have had to insist before that they give my kids tickets at the gate before so that they get counted. I can't understand Ealing's problem with this. I know how many people fit into each stand, so it is pretty easy to estimate how many people are there, and they consistently undercount. The club house stand was 3/4 full, there were people dotted around the pitch, and there were hundreds in the bar, so there couldn't have been less than 400, probably 500, but they gave an official count of 267. None of these numbers are good, but they do this consistently.

did Ealing wrong you in some way? You don't seem to have anything positive to say at all. In contrast watched geese at Worthing a few seasons ago with old boys kiba Liam and Ryan playing lovely lads ..great club and supporters...well most it would seem
