Kent have said that next season's fixtures are the same as this year's with home and away reversed.

So Kent have Herts (a), Surrey (h) and Devon (h)

Do we know the venues for these games?  I remember searching for them last year, gave up in the end because there was absolutely no coverage online.

The www.englandrugby.com site lists all the fixtures and does show the venues for some of them but not all.

North Midlands fixtures.
May 5 Hampshire at Gosport and Fareham.
May 12 Warwickshire at Bromsgrove.
May 19 Somerset at Taunton

Looks like Cheshire play their opening game at New Brighton; the other two are away and venues are TBC.

Kent haven't announced their home grounds for this year but according to Devon, they will play at "Aylesford Butts RFC". LOL

Why isn't this competition better advertised?

The Cheshire RFU site is seldom updated and contains little information regarding the fixtures, nothing about entrance fees - still no confirmation on the Lancashire game.

I'm fairly knew to watching rugby live at this level (4), and it just seems there's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on and a general feeling of apathy.  I recall being at our AGM one year, someone mentioned the win Cheshire had at our own ground yet was disappointed at the lack of support - it wasn't even advertised on our website, or even on the board on the main road!

I'd love to get to more things like this; those at the top either don't much care for promoting them or is it just that they don't want enthusiastic little oiks, like me, attending and making too much noise?!

I've seen some great players for Cheshire over recent years. The Mulchrone Brothers, Tom Cruse and many other who have gone on to higher levels. The players always seem to enjoy it but promotion and fan interest seem to dwindle year by year

Has it always been this way? I really think it's a shame that there is virtually no promotion for the competition. I'd love to see people getting behind the team. It can't just be me, can it?

To me, in the few counties I have some knowledge of, the problem is apathy from the players.  Not all of them obviously, but it is not always the case that the counties put out their best XV.

The playing squad seems to be a mix of whom is available, whom can make training, who is not injured/knackered at the end of the season, and at at times who is favoured by the particular coaching team.

Players right down to Level 6 put a lot of time, effort and at times, expense into playing and training for their clubs.  Almost all of them also have "proper" jobs, so the thought of county training as an extra with a possibility of the guy from the next door club playing instead of you, because he always does, is not very attractive.

It is a shame but I think the intensity of the club game, as it increases each year, actually decreases the value of the County game.

The Roses game is the one that fans want to see whatever sport it is up North. Hopefully whoever goes to Twickenham it won't be decided by bonus points as last year.

I saw the other day on Fylde's social media that they're hosting the final game.

It appears there's 5-7 Chester players in the squad for this year, no idea who else has been called-up...

As usual I can find nothing at all about the cheshire team. Easily found Lancashire and Yorkshire line ups on Twitter/their websites. Its almost like Cheshire don't want anyone to know about these games

All cloak and dagger. Must be a need to know basis.

Why is it Cheshire seems to be run like an old golf club? It just seems if you haven't got the right tie then you don't get to find out what's happening?

Info on Lancashire is readily available, why not Cheshire?

Interesting Yorkshire side, I am not convinced about the pack.

The backs look to have some firepower though.

It must be down to budgets. Last year absolutely nothing on Yorkshire website
But I got Yorkshire team on Cheshire website.
Obviously Yorkshire used all their budget last year and
Cheshire used all theirs this year

I think Yorkshire RFU have been looking to improve both on and off the field. Shame that doesn't extend to the organisation of the York's Cup. Still a joke.

After 20 minutes I thought Cheshire were nailed on for the win. However, Yorkshire had other ideas. Poor tackling by Cheshire ultimately cost them the game.

Good to see that James Ayrton got his first game of the year following his injury at Esher.
Ravens head up to Lancashire next week.

Suspect the Lancashire squad will be very different to this weeks team, with the Sale boys missing but presumably with SP players available - will any of the U20 squad step up.

Cheshire pretty much bullied Yorks for the first quarter, spent pretty much that whole time pushing towards the try line, going over for one and then getting another via a penalty try - Yorks having a prop sent to the bin for the infringement. After that Yorks just came out fighting, retaining the ball and going in at half time 19 - 15 up.

Second half was more of the same, and it wasn't really until Kyle Joseph and Andy Baston - both of Chester - came on (Joseph scoring a try) that we looked like turning things around. They left the fightback too late and Yorks saw the game out as deserved winners.

If I were the coaches I'd be trying a different centre partnership for the next game, and I suspect they'll be forced into doing so because Sale are playing down at Lucs. So many missed tackles.

It's a bit poor all the counties complaining about commitment but they do them selves no favours by way of self promotion. You need to be sherlock holmes to even get the results.

Before last weeks matches I looked in vain on the Sussex RFU website to see the selected team.

You wouldn't have known that the game was even being played - the last info was regarding a friendly which had been cancelled a few weeks previously.

Is it any wonder there is an air of apathy? It isn't difficult to update a website is it?

Yeah, we had three start for us against Yorks last week, but I can't find anywhere that gives the team for yesterday, so I have no idea who they were replaced by.

As per usual, nothing is on the Cheshire website; they still haven't updated it to show that our game next week is at Fylde...

Surrey RFU website states that kick off for Saturday's game with Gloucestershire is 12:00am. So, question is do they mean a midday KO, a midnight KO, or they just can't be bothered to tell anyone who is considering going along what time the game starts...

According to the RFU website it is a 15:00 ko
And the RFU website would never lie either Wink
Another point - if KO is indeed midnight, technically, I'm assuming that Saturday midnight is one minute after 11:59pm on Friday rather than a minute after 11:59 on Saturday. If that was the case, I've missed the match and can't find the result anywhere...

I'll take the risk that the RFU website is correct and turn up for 3pm!!

Surrey RFU website states that kick off for Saturday's game with Gloucestershire is 12:00am. So, question is do they mean a midday KO, a midnight KO, or they just can't be bothered to tell anyone who is considering going along what time the game starts...

What do you think?

Has to be midnight under floodlights, they’d never lie to us!!

Why don't you ring Esher Rugby Club - they might know?

It’s deffo a 3pm ko.
