If the (expected?) AGP pitch does go in this summer, I’d expect all Cov’s pre-season games will be away games. Fingers crossed for one in Dublin again this year.
Moseley have announced they are playing Cov on Friday 23rd August at Billesley Common.

Be interesting to see what teams are fielded as Blackheath are playing Coventry on Saturday 24th August....

Yes -two away fixtures within 24 hours. I’d expect Blackheath to get the better team, despite the traditional rivalry with Moseley, just based on last season’s performances.

I'd have thought so.

FWIW, it's easy to see why the agreement was signed between the clubs on PSFs last year, because both want to play each other, and the gate and F&B money, but I don't want to play Cov until we're back at or near par again. Neither we nor Cov would have taken anything meaningful from the game last year, and we just don't have the squad depth to be playing an "everyone up for it" local derby - last season one of ours was stretched off with a broken ankle.

By the end of the PSFs last summer, we couldn't put out anything close to our first choice team for the league and that was the start of all the problems we had IMO.

Cov could put out a development XV, and we'll still have to put out basically our XV because we haven't got the players.

I'd wish Cov very well if they wanted to just play Club and not us at all tbh. If I owned the club this year we'd be doing a couple of full-contact joint training sessions with near peer clubs and one full match at the end of the summer against an N2 or Welsh Prem side and that's the lot.

Moseley-Cov games are always tough encounters but last year it was just sad because members of an outclassed team were quite literally breaking themselves to hold back the deluge. All for what? Pride?

We'll meet again, but I'd rather it wasn't any time soon (because I don't want Cov to get relegated and I can't see us going up this season). Maybe last summer's PSFs were a freak run of bad injuries for us, but it happened and I'd rather it didn't happen again. A fully fit squad that was always too small, might just have got us a bit higher up the table without the breakages before a ball had been kicked in anger.
keep the faith

What! No free matches for season ticket holders?

I guess the laying of the new pitch takes precedence, and rightly so.

We'd have had to play 'home' games at a different venue, and one Coventry football club doing that is quite sufficient thanks!

When you have the plasticpitch, will the 2nd team play as a curtain raiser or still play down the road.

As far as I can tell, the seconds/dev sides will play at the Butts. That pitch is going to have to earn its corn with those, plus United, United Ladies, Bears, plus training on it, concerts (probably, and hopefully well protected for those!) and anyone else they can shoehorn in ;)

And Ealing's - Bishop's Stortford and Rosslyn Park. Park could be good fun, but I'm deeply disappointed at not getting the return fixture against Quins that was promised last year. Also, it was good fun to play Dragons too. Pretty underwhelmed.

I am a believer of really tough pre season games. The harder the better, how else can guage where you stand. The set piece is the real test but the backs have to know each other under game pressure conditions.

The better teams that you play the increased pressure starts to tell.

I am not sure the Ealing pre season games will be at the level of Championship tempo and pace.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.
