Ealing has announced two of three planned preseason fixtures today:

Dragons v Ealing Trailfinders - Saturday 11th August - Bedwas RFC - 14:30

Blackheath v Ealing Trailfinders - Saturday 18th August - Well Hall

I'm tempted by the Dragons fixture, but wonder what quality of side they'll put out? Any other confirmed pre-season fixtures yet?

Irish are playing Leicester Tigers. That is the only one we have confirmed so far.

Radio silence, as ever, from Headingley. Last year was pathetic even by our standards, with a solitary game arranged only to be cancelled, supposedly because we didn't have enough fit front-rowers. I am hoping that this is one area where Chris Stirling will put his foot down, but am not holding my breath.
That's easy for you to say.

That's a great pre-season fixture list Capt. I would like to go to the match at Brickfields so I'm hoping they firm up on the date & kick off time soon.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

And so it is - Friday 24th August at 1900 at the Stoop. Looking forward to that, but it will be murder to get to before kickoff.

Someone at Headingley must have been listening. Carnegie will play Darlington MP at their place on 18th August. That's all for now, it remains to be seen whether we will be allowed on the hallowed Headingley turf for a home fixture.
That's easy for you to say.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone have any idea when the 'Draft' fixture list will be made available?

No idea at all, except that last season, I know (from a  Facebook Memory) that the NL1 fixtures came out yesterday. With Rotherham down NL1 will have to fit them around the cricket, but I don't know of other tricky arrangements in either division.

The fact that LS and 'Mond can't be at home on the same date is one issue, although it's probably easier with both being in the same league in recent seasons.

Championship fixtures have invariably been behind National Leagues, so I wouldn't expect them for a while yet. Last 5 seasons:

June 9 (17/18 season)
July 8
June 22
June 23
June 25

I know it was July last season but that was later than normal. no doubt the fixtures will just be released suddenly rather than have an official release date. i.e. the Aviva Premiership or any of the soccer leagues.

A time machine would help!

I wonder what the area looked like then. Stoop was still alive, and Harlequins hadn’t even moved to Twickenham!

Adrian Stoop was alive but not yet a 'quin.

The club was playing on Wimbledon Common and  - according to the Hertiage page on the website - needed a collection at the AGM to pay its bills. The 45 members present raised £69 9 shillings and 6d to keep the club afloat.

In 1905 they persuaded Stoop - the Oxford captain - to choose the quarters over Blackheath.
He brought some of his Oxford chums, passing practice, fitness training, back play - and the rest is history.
