What a nonsense this competition has become. Tonight in the semi final Saracens defeated Northampton 89-7. How on earth is this of use to any of the players involved? It is supposed to be the vehicle through which Academy players develop. But Prem Rugby/RFU have no regulations about who can play. Newcastle play Exeter next week in the other semi -what odds on another thrashing?

And yet Saints won the Premiership Cup, which is also used as a development competition by the clubs during the international windows.  Did Sarries fill the team with the England internationals who can't get a start in the first team because of all the Lions in the squad?  Not like them to stretch the regulations to the limit...

I agree this competition is a farce - on several occasions we have been asked to provide players (from Level 5) to make up the numbers for Sale
Maybe they are going down a different route now with their "subsidiary company" Sale FC?

I am sure they are. I expect a number of big signings for Sale FC in the close season. It wouldn't surprise me if they are fielding a Premiership/Championship quality side next year
