The RFU would have to be very bold and take a hit in the early years but what if they cut the Premiership / CVC adrift and divert all monies to Championship clubs ? The Championship clubs will turn full time professional, fitness levels will soar and ability levels will follow in a couple of years. PRL / CVC will promote their brand as they see fit which will grow or wither and die like Kerry Packers mob but that will still have some benefit to the RFU. The RFU however will have England matches to promote their brand plus all the existing clubs and infrastructure. Radical man !

Why on earth would anyone suggest the RFU take control of the Premiership - the way they keep trying to ruin rugby at a lower level?

That would be the best way to finish rugby as we know it.

Lets take control of the RFU. Only takes 1,001 brave clubs!!

But when do clubs start not giving two monkeys what the RFU do? Level 5?

Think you are correct OldNick I see the Daily Mail reports that Eddie Jones must pay for any additional consultants or coaches that he uses out of his own pocket.
They really do know how to back England on their way to the World Cup.

The council needs to haul the executive over the coals.
If they don't then the AGM should.

If the RFU is in financial dodo it is all the more reason to tell the Premiership to go fund itself and start paying RFU for the commercial rights rather than being proped up from International revenue.

Do that and the clubs might not make their players available for England training/games

That's a sure way to destroy rugby.

How about cutting the largesse for the Blazers for a starter, should be able to re-employ a few workers at the lower level.

That was put forward as a motion but was defeated. Turkeys & Christmas and all that.
