Yes I heard the same, Stourbridge were going to take the league by the scruff of its neck and match up ... ... ... Dings as usual stay silent on their approach and looks like they taught Stourbridge a lesson !

not sure you learn or teach anything from these types of outings. I do think however when we saw what looked like Stour's first team at the end, the game was very one sided...exciting

Well as I saw it, the final team playing a team that had played most of the game against a side that haven't isn't really exciting unless you mean scoring towards the end was a highlight LOL

Two mixed teams from tigers on Saturday, very pleasing to see the strength in depth and great first hit out.

Shows the hard work in building the second team that won the premier league is paying off.

Played two regional 3 teams with a squad of 40.

1PM ko - Tigers 21 - Donny Phoenix 19

3PM ko - Tigers 43 - Sandal 24

Two good games of rugby to blow off the cobwebs, and makes selection very very interesting for this week coming !!

Absolutely certain Sandal enjoyed a pre season game where we ended up 24-24 at half time
I'm sure both sides will feel they will be top of the leagues next year.
Pre seasons games are what they are and I think Tigers are correct in doing last weeks games and
next week against Broadstreet as an indication as to where their teams are.
A lot of family lads are on holiday. So it is what it is

Hull RUFC have played two pre-season games so far.
They beat Macclesfield by 46-24 and Bridgend Athletic by 33-12.
Both these fixtures were away from home but on this coming Saturday they take on Darlington
Mowden Park at the Ferens Ground.
Their opening league fixture is at Huddersfield followed by a home game against Tynedale.
What's with you Boo-Boo

Hi Tulip how has the summer been ? top Shocked LOL

Speaking to your players (one who I know well) it was pretty much a full squad out for you guys.

Broadstreet have changed the format and are just bringing one squad now, with a 2pm KO. The subs will be rolling on and off and teams of around 30 ish, so not sure how much we will learn.

2 very good competitive games at Dore Moor last Saturday, it was a great indication of where are squad is at.

From what I hear the lads are really up for it this season. Lost Dave Martin England Deaf International to Huddersfield and possibly another good centre to watching World Cup in Japan. but I think we will give most sides a run for their money. Hopefully I will get back to my old stomping ground Dore Moor soon and wil give you a bell. All the best for this season

Leicester Lions sparkle against Nuneaton in pre-season game on the evening of Tuesday 13th August 2019

Leicester Lions played a pre-season squad game against Nuneaton on the evening of Tuesday 13th August 2019. Head coach, Gareth Collins, gives his feedback from the game below.

Report:

Leicester Lions played their first warm up match of the season against Midlands Premier side Nuneaton on Tuesday 13th August 2019, evening.

The game consisted of four quarters and both sides fielded about 30 players.

Lions won the game 61-0.

Tries: Constant, Sumpter (2), Neale (2), Murdoch, Godefroy, Young, penalty try.
Conversions: Young (7)

Comments:

I am very happy to get the first game, and win, under the belt following my return to Leicester Lions as head coach.

Nuneaton, complete with a number of former National league players, were always going to give us a good test so we were delighted with our performance. There is much still to work on before our first league game but as a first hit out we couldn’t have asked for much more from the boys.

We made a lot of new signings over the summer, most of which were in action on Tuesday night, and it was really pleasing to see them all settle in so well.

I was also very pleased with the tempo we were able to play at throughout the game. We’ve been working hard on fitness levels over pre-season in order to play a certain style of rugby, so it was very pleasing to see the boys achieve that in the first game.

We will also be running a development team this season and a number of players got their first run out for the club in this game. It was very encouraging to see levels of accuracy and energy maintained when a number of these young guys were out there.

We’re now looking forward to another tough test In our next and final warm up match away to Loughborough Students on 31st August.

Gareth Collins (head coach Leicester Lions).

New coaching staff also includes: assistant coaches Jason Button, Seko Sio and Jason Aldwinckle.
