so with northampton playing so well of late and worcester winning it would appear that leeds will replace the saints at the top end next season.
at the bottom it would appear likely that bees and cornish AB's will be replaced by otley and stourbridge (or maybe manchester).
this would mean same league as 2 years ago with esher and stourbridge replacing waterloo and bees.
now it is far to early to be making competely meaningless predictions for next season, however, i know that plymouth albion will be spending a lot of money on recruitment in the summer, exeter will have a decent budget again and leeds will have the parachute to try and keep their squad (which lets be fair is a very good NL1 squad not a prem team). pirates are an unknown quantity now with dickie evans leaving, and even though he has still agreed money for next season some players will leave you would think. donny i wouldnt like to say as i dont know, and as for nottingham, keep this seasons style and mentality and you'll be up there again. will rotherham come strong again, do any roth fans know what the plans are?? bedford will be hard to beat a GR, but being part-time cant see any real improvement on this season.
at the bottom you would see same old story, sedgely pk, newbury, exiles and the new boys.

the only thing i care about for next season is making sure that first place after 30 games doesnt read:
1) LEEDS CARNEGIE
anything else would be fine, even:
1) EXETER CHIEFS
but an absolute joy to look at would be:
1)PLYMOUTH ALBION

The key assumption you are making is that Leeds Carnegie will be funded at all if they are relegated to ND1.
  • As a non-founder member of the Premiership they'll be on a smaller parachute that Northampton.
  • As the failing part of a Rugby League company, they may well go the way of Orrell.

I think you are a little circumspect with regards to London welsh. Look at the league table and you will see that Welsh have more wins than both Coventry and Plymouth and this being a season of huge transition and agin massive injury problems. They have not really been 'turned over' by any side including the Saints. They also have a stated aim of going full time next season and I would predict that they will be in a top four position next year and may even be challenging for the top spot!

Not true Nick, they are now part of Leeds Metropolitan University who are the majority shareholders and the Caddick Group have a 10 year sponsorship arrangement with the club.

I agree with Rufus, London Welsh have had a great season. As a Sedgley fan i wish we could have had a successful season like the Welsh - well done.
At Sedge the 'Guys at the top' blame our failure on being Semi-pro. But teams like London Welsh prove that Semi-pro teams can compete in the mid table (as opposed to the bottom 3!)- they've won more games so far than Full Time teams like Plymouth and Coventry. And look at Roth last year - they came 2nd as a semi-pro team. And Esher have managed 9 wins so far with games still to play in their first seaon in N1.
Hmmmmmm.

I dont think clubs will be looking necessarily at a winning place in next seasons league, but will be looking at, budgeting for and hoping against hope, for a top 6 finish, if the new structure being mooted comes in to existence. Therefore clubs will be aiming for those spots.

So it comes down to, who will be in the top 6...

Leeds, Exeter, Doncaster, Plymouth and then the rest...? Bedford, Nottingham, Coventry, Pirates?

The result does not necessarily describe the Game. The first game of the season after 60 mins Welsh were 16-11 down to Saints and dropped the ball on the line which would have put Welsh into the lead. The fact that in the last fifteen minutes Saints scored a hat full of tries does not mean the team was turned over although the result may suggest it. At your place I remember the Game was very close for most of the match. However, I accept the early Exeter result was a tad embarrassing

I should think the embarrassment of playing to a virtually empty Headingley most weeks makes them wish they could move back 'home'...

For Cov to have any kind of hope of making it to those dizzying heights they'd need to (a) find some cash under the carpet, and (b) recruit fairly heavily in certain positions (mostly behind the front nine) given that for the last n weeks they've struggled desperately to scrape a squad of 22, utilizing walking-wounded on several occasions just to fill the bench.

At least the very young squad they have now will have had a year under its collective belt, should it stay together (and they do appear to be improving slightly of late).

I too will be keeping an eye on Roth and LW with interest next term.... (assuming the former survive this one Wink ).

Leeds will still be at Headingley next season and beyond. The only reason I see them leaving Headingley is if the ground redevelopment goes ahead and they need to 'decamp' whilst the new stands etc are built.

The old members club of Leeds RUFC merged with West Park Bramhope and are now called West Park Leeds.  They are currently rebuilding WPL ground - new clubhouse, extra pitches etc to accomodate amateur childrens rugby etc.

I was up there at the start of this season and it is looking good - the final plans would put many clubs in the National Leagues to shame.

If the professional club ever needed to leave Headingley, then I would imagine that would be the first port of call.

Sorry Rufus but I disagree..

3 Tries to nil,   2 Conversions and a penalty against 1 penalty is a walk over in my eyes.

The 1 penalty LW did get was in the 1st half on 35mins and scored F' all in the 2nd half..  Go figure..
