Maybe the large lady hasn't started warming up yet but wondered whats your thoughts on the make up of Nat 3 SW next season??

All of this is making some large assumptions at both ends of the league but at the top its looking like;

TOP
Coming down - Dings and possibly Lydney

Going up - Redingensians

Play off - Exmouth at home (85 points) against Barnes (76) or LIWG (72) or E Grinstead (71) - My money's with Exmouth...

BOTTOM
Assumption time but going down are Chard and possibly Weston and Oxford Quins (didnt think that at the beginning of the season)

Going up - From SW1W - Cleve and from SW1E - Chippenham (maybe)

Play off - Looking like Ivybridge (78 points) or Bridgewater (72) travelling to face Towcestrians (89) - Difficult to say who would win this one but stick with home advantage.

So based on the above and with a huge pinch of salt, next season could look like

Barnstaple - Devon
Bournemouth - Dorset
Bracknell - Berks
Brixham - Devon
Chippenham - Wiltshire
Cleve - Bristol
Dings - Bristol
Hornets - Somerset
Lydney - Glos
Newton Abbot - Devon
Old Cents - Glos
Old Pats - Glos
Old Reds - Bristol
Towcestrians - Norhamptonshire (Heck of a trip from Devon!!)

Anyway, we all know what ASSUME can stand for and no doubt others will have different views.... Fire away!!

Just wondered how you get Towcestrians to be in Herts??

It's a decent journey from there too.  Smile

I think I read somewhere that if Exmouth don't win the (possible) play off then Bracknell may get level transferred over to LSE again.

I'd imagine that Lydney will be relishing their time back with the poor relations if they do drop back down. One of the more "interesting" sets of supporters :)

Still a few weeks to go & I don't suppose anyone is counting chickens just yet in any of the leagues. But I struggle to argue with any of Chipping Mans predictions regarding the sides going down from SW3 this season.

Aren't Towcestrians in Northamptonshire rather than Hertfordshire?

Yes Towcestrians are in Northants and there is no guarantee they would be in N3SW if promoted. Their natural home would be N3Mids and there might be a level transfer shuffle to replace them.

Thanks for the geographic correction and they may be some level transfers, as always.

I got my earlier prediction wrong by three and next seasons Nat 3 SW MAY now be;

Barnstaple - Devon
Bournemouth - Dorset
Brixham - Devon
Chippenham - Wiltshire
Cleve - Bristol
Dings - Bristol
Exmouth - Devon
Hornets - Somerset
Ivybridge - Devon
Lydney - Glos
Newton Abbot - Devon
Old Cents - Glos
Old Pats - Glos
Old Reds - Bristol

As Exmouth lost the play off (sorry guys) and now remain in the league, Ivybridge beating Towcestrians (who might have gone into Nat 3 Mid if they won), both Dings and Lydney coming down from Nat 2S, I think we might be saying goodbye to Bracknell to Nat 3LSE. I could be wrong though..

If the above is correct, looks a pretty strong league with 5 Devon sides, 3 Bristol sides, 3 Gloucester sides and 1 from each of Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset.

It looks like a proper SW League with no more trips up the M4 to the fancy Range Rover lot in leafy Berkshire Wink  A bit more tractor, manure and cider now!!

Lydney relegated??? Oh what a shame Thumbs Up looks like they'll have to "slum it again" (their words!) I'll have some fun winding up "Stent" again next season!

C'mon ChippingMan, you know you want to do the predictions spread sheet!

National 3 South West next season is looking like this
Lydney
Dings
Ivybridge
Exmouth
Newton abbot
Brixham
Barnstaple
Bracknell
Weston Hornets
Old Cents
Old Pats
Old Reds
Cleve
Chippenham

There should be no need for a level Transfer now as there are 14 teams one my reply.?

Not sure Bracknell want to go over to LSE, but do they get a choice? Sticking Lydney in Mids would be the best idea, that way none of us have to go and listen to the fish wife screaming - sorry, but I really don't like that bunch.

You're coming off my Christmas Card list Mr Jester!! I dont think you're on Lydney's though.

I'm sure someone within Nat 3 SW with a bit of time on their hands is very willing to do the prediction league, arent you??

You won't have to come anywhere near as jester10 your a national 2 south club next season anyway but how can you put a club in the midlands league when they are a south west club it would be like putting Cinderford in the north.??? in my view I think it will be either Bournemouth or Bracknell that will transfer.

Hi Pete. Please check out Bracknell's website where they state that dependant upon the Exmouth V Barnes play off, it may decide where they play next season but that all still has to be decided...

Jester - Lydney, Midlands?, surely not.....

Hi Chipping Man Barnes won the play off 27-22 after extra time so my theory would be either Bournemouth or Bracknell will move.?

Bournemouth won't be transferred, as they're a Dorset club. Their natural home is the South West and Dorset doesn't even border an SE county.

So does the now 5 teams in level 5 from Devon, weaken or strengthen said clubs ambitions to get into level 4? The competition for players must be fierce certainly in South Devon? I don't necessarily mean payment wise but everything at a club? Is the Exeter affect helping raise standards with a lot of players going through the linked academies?

Most clubs have 'interesting supporters' if you step far enough away from the sponsors bar.
I played for lydney for many years, the passion shown by 'that bunch' on the field and the touchline is something most clubs can only dream of.
