Unfortunately I agree with you about Macc Blues this year. Too many injuries and changes in the team to mount a serious and sustained shot at regaining the title this year. I do genuinely think that Sale and Stourbridge (plus a few other teams) will be there or thereabouts but it's far too early to crown any team this early in the season.

Best wishes

Moody,

Don't be so down beat.

If you think that Macc won't have a say in the top end of the league then you are not the Macc man I know you are. Giles has a good team who, on their day, will be a test for every team in this division. FFS we are only four games into the season.

td2, this super Club down at Heywood Road cried their 2nds game off at home yesterday, which might be another first at NOWIRUL Premier League Level. Anyone know why?

Not sure with the alledged Stour Sale date of destiny , sadly not sure Sale are the real deal this season very one dimensional against us.

I keep saying it, but it's very early on and a long day to go.

Good luck to all

Sadly, Shouty Corner is no more ! Despite three away wins from the first four games and scoring 125 points with 18 try's, the away support that travelled to North and South Yorkshire respectively, at all three venues collectively, didn't even match the try's scored !

I was surprised with that as well given the strength of the club and the 1st xv squad.

Last week they only travelled to Caldy with 14 and the ref blew up after 60 minutes because by then they only had 11 players..............perhaps they have some kind of Novovirus or Influenza in the squad or they have a raft of unavailabilities or injuries.

I am sure they will put it right for next week........

I watched FC games Vs both Sheffield clubs on their YouTube channel last night. With such a lineup of regional rugby talent in the FC ranks providing two good victories, I was shocked at how few supporters were in attendance. Notwithstanding Tiger Dome & his brass band posse...the turnout was dismal. Maybe the message isn't getting through that they are favourites for the league, or maybe, like the 2nd team, people are feeling disenfranchised? It's a good job rumble isn't a sale man or he'd be having heads roll at Heywood Rd.

I have to say it would be a tall order for the Blues this season as with Sedge, however and putting Stourbridge's start which has been great to one side, but it has to be said that Tynedale early on look to have a winning mind set and their results very impressive.

It is still a long way to go with lots of twists and turns so let's hope the Blues and Sedge are in the mix come the end,

All the best

Yowm dead roight there Sedge, me owd mucker. However, in leafy Prestbury, I'm Received Pronunciation. Our squad up front is evidently not as deep as it has been in previous seasons, and, as such, injuries are taking more of an impact. We will weather the storm, so to speak, and I fancy will be contesting at the business end of the season.

Looking forward to the Sedge & Macc visits especially & seeing old friends again then hopefully the return visits in the new year.
What happened today Wahoo? Didn't see that one coming!
As ST sez, there's a long way to go, but we couldn't have asked for a better start which is just a joy after the gloom that engulfed Stour in the latter part of last season!
Two tries today for centre George Morgan who joined us in the summer from level 7 Kidderminster Carolians!! 😊
Onwards & upwards!
As per my luncheon response to the Huddersfield gathering, I did see it coming, perhaps not the loss, but a very competitive game. We had it 40 to 1 in Maccs favour on RM, but the results didn't reflect form. And yes Porky, good to see Stour getting some results - they may even give us a game this season!

Sale have a very strong line up with a lot of Sale Academy players and some grizzled veterans like Sale's Chris Meyer. They are so strong that a player like Simon Griffiths can only get on the bench.

Just surprising that they aren't getting the crowds or the support from their second team. Teams like Chester and Sedgley and Hoppers are very strong right across their senior section and I do believe it is an important marker for any club to have those players pushing very hard in the 2nd team to keep pressure on the regular 1st teamers and to be ready for the inevitable step up as injuries take their toll.

Sale will need to get their 2nd team on side and firing if they are going to go up automatically this year. N2N looks very strong indeed.

Huddersfield/South Leicester/Stour/Tynedale/Otley/Hinckley and Chester are all very difficult places to go as winter takes hold and Sale need to win most of these with a bonus point if they are to achieve their destiny.

Instead of being quick to jump on any move Sale FC make, it would be amazing what you would find out about the club and how well they have done to build it back up from nothing if you looked into it a little more.
To summarise, when Sale Sharks were formed, they stripped out all senior sides below the first team to focus on the challenges they faced in the professional era. This single handedly destroyed what was Sale Rugby Club and the real history that went with it.
It was then left to the legend that is Mr Richard Trickey to start that all up again from scratch a few years later and what a good job he has done, alongside many others, to get the club back to where it is today. Nobody at Sale FC would even try to say they are the finished article in anyway, as they have a long road to go down until they reach that point.

A few achievements to date include:
They have re-built the M & J section from the ground up, which is down to volunteers as per all other clubs.
They now have a Colts side (With its first set of home grown Sale FC lads coming through). One played for the first xv this Saturday just gone, which is great to see! This will only get the senior sides to become stronger and not be in the difficult position of being unable to field a 2nd XV due to injuries and unavailability in the senior squad and the obvious knock on effect.
A Community Coach has been brought in to give something back to the community and build close relations with the schools in the area to increase the number of kids playing at the grassroots of rugby and provide opportunities.

In a nutshell, there is an ambition at Sale FC to become a 'real' club again, not just a first xv with nothing to back them up. The M & J's and colts back the seniors and vice versa and it is great to see how this is developing and making steps in the right direction. Nobody ever said it would be easy, but they keep on going despite the negativity from most in the region.
