Just back from Moorend after a titanic struggle vs Sheffield who ran out victors 20-19 in the 12th minute of stoppage time in the second half! Cleckheaton looked sharp in the early exchanges and scored 2 tries, the second on the stroke of half time to establish a 12-3 lead. Sheffield then kicked a penalty and added a converted try to lead 12-13 before Cleckheaton drove over from a lineout to score a converted try to retake the lead 19-13. Deep into added time , a series of penalties eventually led to Sheffield scoring a try next to the posts which was converted and the referee blew for time. Cleckheaton's lack of discipline led to this defeat, I'm told that there were 40 penalties awarded during the game, 27 against Cleckheaton, 3 yellow cards were given to them against 2 for Sheffield all for technical infringements, which spoilt the game somewhat.

Spoilt the game ? As I was not there I must take you opinion. However ..... Why have a captain on the pitch ? Play the ref. we all have good and what we would say as bad referees, but they all do a job, play the ref you have on the day.... Good or bad.
At the end of the day ........ rugby was the winner !

I would love to belittle Burnage and tell a tale of how ‘Loo destroyed them, but frankly that didn’t happen. Burnage were winning at half time and with twenty to go the game was there to be won by either team. I have always admired a couple of their players; a front row and a winger who were as awkward as ever. Bizarrely considering the wind it was Liam’s kicking (including the near miss) that seemed to settle our nerves. And once the game was won the home side played with confidence and the visitors couldn't keep them out.

You’re not trying to manipulate me, are you? Only I’m notoriously gullible.

Very similar at stockpot SS. The score line looks bad, however 15 - 5 at half time and a strong port defence. Very similar to the Rossendale game at tigers ..... They are not a bad team at all, however could not eventually cope. Apparently according to their chairman, they had their strongest team out and the last 4 weeks have had a depleted team. They are a good team, a great club and will do good from here in. No disgrace at all. Well done port and good luck.
At the end of the day ........ rugby was the winner !

TD, I have not inferred in my summary that the referee was good or bad, however the referee was from out of the area and was being assessed today.
As I said Cleckheaton's lack of discipline, a large number of penalties given cost them the game, the captain was yellow carded on the stroke of half time too. I agree with you that referees are there to do a job, without them we haven't got a game. It was a very quiet and subdued clubhouse after today's game, I'll leave it at that! .

Had the pleasure of watching a well refereed game at Marl Pits, hard game in difficult conditions played by two good sides, they'll both be thereabouts come the final reckoning

First twenty & last twenty Loo were on top, the middle bit was a touch sticky. Loo switched off before half time & Burnage to their credit took full advantage with their impressive 13 scoring twice to give them a half time lead. For me Burnage have always been built on their set piece, a strong scrum & that catch n drive, however the tables were turned yesterday. Loo demolished their scrum & had several good driving mauls & yet Burnage's back line was quite good especially yer man at 13 who I believe is a student at Manchester uni, a great addition. When Loo keep it simple as in the last 20, we look so much better especially with Reeve at 10 & Colbourne @ fb. Right result but well played Burnage, playing like that every week will surely bring some points.
Loo team ethic summed up at the end when Crow could have tried to force his way past the FB to get himself on the score sheet yet held up for a second to pop a pass inside for his mate to score...great to see.

Sorry mate did not want to affend. Just took your words as "spoilt the game somewhat" as a .... Not great ref. any ref that spoils a game must be .... Well ...... Not great, it's frustrating when the teams are not alowed to play.

All Burnage's points scored when they were down to 14 men, if I recall correctly. That must mean something, but I certainly don't know what it is.....
