I watched a very entertaining game today at Westcliff in the sunshine. If the spectators had paid an entrance fee they would have definitely had their money’s worth so to watch great attacking rugby and 13 tries being scored for free was fantastic value.
We were 5-0 up when I arrived. Guernsey then played some great rugby to score 29 unanswered points. Then suddenly fortunes turned and Westcliff scored 24 unanswered points to level the scores at 29 all. At this point I felt we had the momentum to go on and win, but unfortunately we had lost our influential tighthead to injury and our scrum immediately suffered badly changing the course of the game again and Guernsey finished very strongly to eventually run out convincing winners 29-51. Guernsey were better than I expected and gave the best performance by far from a visiting team this season. I think they will do well in N2S.
