I watched the Hertford v Westcliff game on saturday, just like the Wimbledon game last month, Hertford conceded 3 soft tries and then it is always an uphill battle against decent opposition.
Many congratulations to Dickon, top scoring this week with a magnificent 25 points.
Please make your Week 16 predctions below.

Brentwood 0-5 Sidcup Brentwood going back down to London 1 imo
CS Stags 5-0 Bedford Ath CS last week a one off? Let’s see after this weekend. Bedford different team away.
Guildford 0-5 Hertford And the fall from Grace continues.
S&E 5-1 Dorking I don’t see what the deal is about Dorking. Average pack, decent 10 & 15. Sutton to continue.
Tring 5-0 Chingford Ching in a relegation scrap and with 6 first team players missing its not getting any easier.
Westcliff 1-4 Tunbridge Wells Going for an upset here.
Wimbledon 5-0 Shelford Shelford are relegated already no qualms about it.

Brentwood 1 - 4 Sidcup A tough call but think Sidcup might edge this
CS Stags 5 - 0 Bedford Athletic. Stags very poor when I watched them, but other results suggest they are better than that showing, especially at home.
Guildford 0 - 5 Hertford. Guildford struggling of late, I think Hertford can win this.
Sutton & Epsom 4 - 1 Dorking. Toss of a coin, two decent sides.
Tring 5 - 0 Chingford. I like Tring at home.
Westcliff 5 - 0 Tunbridge Wells. Close call but Westcliff confidence high.
Wimbledon 5 - 0 Shelford. Top v bottom. Should be only one result here.

Brentwood 1 v 4 Sidcup. Tense and tight affair to go the way of the visitors.
CS Stags 1863 5 v 0 Bedford Athletic. Stags to carry on where they left off last week.
Guildford 1 v 4 Hertford. Hertford on the way up and Guildford struggling for form.
Sutton & Epsom 5 v 1 Dorking. Usual close affair, but Sutton know how to grind out results under their new coaches.
Tring 5 v 0 Chingford. Tring to win this one comfortably.
Westcliff 4 v 1 Tunbridge Wells. Another close affair, but Cliff rarely lose at home.
Wimbledon 5 v 0 Shelford. Wimbledon to dominate up front and take all the points.

Brentwood -v- Sidcup   1-4       Though wouldn't be surprised by a Brentwood win.
CS Stags 1863 -v- Bedford Athletic   5-0    Bedford don't travel well.
Guildford -v- Hertford   1-5    Playing for fun now but should still be too good for Guildford.
Sutton & Epsom -v- Dorking    5-2   This one gets decided in the last 10 minutes.
Tring -v- Chingford       5-0      Tring home form the complete opposite of their away form.
Westcliff -v- Tunbridge Wells   5-0    Westcliff to take TW apart.
Wimbledon -v- Shelford    5-0     Easy win for Wimbledon.

Was at Dorking on Saturday, a combination of great last ditch tackling and lack of precision stopped us winning imho. Dorking scored when they had their chances to be fair but if we'd taken ours it wouldn't have mattered. D's are far too slow and open in midfield but when it comes to in your face tackling on their own 5 metre line they are very strong. 10 is a good player but they can't rely on him all season, or can they? We missed 4 clear cut chances, 1 wrong decision with a 3 man overlap, 1 held up, 1 pass too early and 1 literally dropped over the try line. Dorking missed 1 with a knock on from a crossfield. Familiar story and if we don't start picking up the points we deserve from these games we'll struggle.

Brentwood 5 v 0 Sidcup Sidcup the most offensive team in the league, and I don't mean they have a good attack
CS Stags 1863  4 v 1 Bedford Athletic Tight game
Guildford 1 v 4 Hertford No idea
Sutton & Epsom 4 v 1 Dorking Dorking will get punished for lack of structure in defence
Tring  2 v 2 Chingford Low scoring, turgid affair
Westcliff 4 v 1 Tunbridge Wells Cliff to carry on their good form
Wimbledon 5 v 0 Shelford No brainer

Brentwood -v- Sidcup 0-5 Some people's comments about as useful as their weekly predictions!
CS Stags 1863 -v- Bedford Athletic 4-1 CS Stags surprised most of us last week, but I think this encounter against a much improved Bedford side with be a closer affair.
Guildford -v- Hertford 0-5 Cant see Guildford getting anything from this game.
Sutton & Epsom -v- Dorking 4-1 Should be a belter and I predict S&E with home advantage.
Tring -v- Chingford 4-1 Really not sure about this one but am going with home win.
Westcliff -v- Tunbridge Wells 1-4 Think this could be the upset of the day!
Wimbledon -v- Shelford 4-1 Don't think this weekend is going to be Shelford's first win, but I think it will come soon!

Carlos, did Hertford want promotion? Winning 6 of the last 7 with the only loss away to league leaders showed the form required. What happened at home this week? So many seem to not want to go up so you never know what strange results might happen and which teams might end up in the top 2. Hertford have always been one of my picks and I’m sticking to it, especially if the rumours Wimbledon and Westcliff don’t want promotion are true.

I think SeaSider70 is a bit upset by last weekend’s result. Didn’t mince your words on the report or the prediction! Anything that rubbed you up the wrong way or just the result?

If it’s an accurate report though that is good news for Brentwood and perhaps Dorking aren’t as good as I thought. But is it accurate? It was a 15 point loss.

What happened to Tring last week? Many now predicting a home loss to lowly Chingford? Why? Are they planning for the future rather than still gunning for the top 4 (and a finish above Hertford)?

Are Guildford being sucked into the mire like previous years? 1 win in their last 6.

Are S&E the team to beat? Do they want promotion more than anyone else?

Rugby70 going against Westcliff at home despite a 40 point defeat in Essex.

So with that being said

Brentwood 0-4 Sidcup
CS 5-1 Bedford A
Guildford 0-4 Hertford
S&E 4-1 Dorking
Tring 4-1 Chingford
Westcliff 5-0 TWs
Wimbledon 5-0 Shelford

Didn't see the game Saturday MC as was travelling but I can assure you that Hertford start every season aiming for promotion. Particularly as 2 of our traditional rivals (and biggest thieves of our players) are in leagues above us.

By 'playing for fun' I meant that I thought we are too far behind the top 2 to catch them now.

Frankly any player that doesn't give 100% when he's on the pitch is asking to get badly hurt in my view, and that applies if he's playing for the 1st XV or the 4th XV.

Still haven't forgotten how certain people were treated at Sidcup, hence the comment on my prediction and I think even the most ardent Dorking fan would agree with my assessment of the game.

When all's said and done Dorking won fair and square, mostly down to their impressive try line defence and a late try from a 5m lineout which skewed the score a bit.

I’m sure every player on the pitch plays to win but coaches, the clubs board etc might decide promotion is not the best thing and alter selection accordingly. After all it is never a bad thing to introduce 2nd team players or youth players to the 1st team set up.

Incidentally, who are the big thieves around you? Bishops Stortford I guess, and....?

There is a report of the game on the Westcliff site, which is a pretty fair summary. Unusual for us we had probably 70% of the possession and territory but the Westcliff defence was pretty exceptional. Two of their tries came when our attacks broke down in their 25 and their very speedy backs basically ran the length of the pitch to score. For the last five minutes or so we were hammering at their line for a try to possibly draw the game but it wasnt to be.

As far as promotion is concerned look where Guernsey are in the league above, its a big jump in standard. I have seen all the games that Hertford have lost this year and I would be surprised if any of the teams would survive in the league above without extensive recruitment.
