Looks like Ireland avenue after the floods should be playable by Saturday

I think they just wanted a better and sturdier playing surface:

It was only supposed to take 6 weeks but when they dug it up they found that the original pitch had built on the site of an old tip and also found a lot of clay, so it's taking longer than they expected.

Either that or according to some Leeds fans, it's all part of an elaborate plan by Gary Hethrington to marginalise the Union side of Leeds Rugby even further.

Can't see that myself, as they will benefit most from the improved pitch during their winter season.
