Dont think you can ever read much into pre season scores LNL so tend not to highlight them. Some clubs go way over the top with their coverage of big wins against teams in these matches, but in my experience coaching teams use them in vastly different ways, so they are not a great guide to early season league form.

Just as a matter of interest and not for analysis, how did your game go ? A few sessions of 25 or 30 mins as is the norm these days.

3 x 30 mins. WR - but as I say, with Windsor using c30 young players and newbies alongside their regulars, and us sticking with a 19 man squad, the result was not important.

I tend to agree DICKON.

We brought a very imbalanced team playing 3X30 against Windsor the week before yourselves. We had a pack close to a 1st team for the first third which dominated a young Windsor pack which come the second and third third Windsor identified some very inexperienced wingers which they took advantage of and ultimately got a morale boosting victory of which to us was more of a first opportunity to burn some lungs and some new guys familiarise themselves with our ethos.

However, commonly we utilise the final game of pre season to pick a select 22 man squad to warm up before the curtain raiser!

Will be interesting as we keep things local this pre season and have Rams as our final warm up game!

LNL - love your ground, and maybe next season we can line up a friendly with Blues? Good luck with your season - Camborne away is a very tough opener given the recruitment they have undertaken.

I wasn't there, but we always start slow on pre season, and from the team sheet it looks like we're still waiting on a good number of people to come back. I'm not concerned.

This weekend we're playing RC Soignies who play in the top League in Belgium. I have no idea what standard they'll be but I'll be there to have a look. Final pre season is TJs and that will be the match that will tell us how set we are for the season.

A slightly unfair contest as TW brought a regular team, WP used both their first and second teams and were constantly rotating them. 18 against 30 is hardly going to result in a respectable scoreline.

Its certainly a fortress for the Blues!
I’m sure the club would certainly be open to a friendly against a team from the other side of the Premier Division!
Indeed, although we are a young and confident bunch full of ambition and I think first game of the season away at their place is probably the best time we could have asked to play them IMO.
Looking at the mass recruitment and the quality of the players coming in I feel Maids may finally get the promotion they have been building for this upcoming season.

.
Not quite sure what is meant by it being an unfair contest. The first pre-season friendly is generally an opportunity to give whole squads an opportunity to showcase themselves. Constant rotating can disrupt the flow whereas a constant 18 is generally less disruptive. ALSO,by electing to bring only 18 players (presumably those deemed as potential first team players) to a lower league club, what message does that send out to the rest of your squad players.
.

We play Wimborne rfc tonight and we have named a 25 player squad and I expect most of the players will play at some point
These friendly games are obviously for the coaches to mix things up and I never take it as a marker as to how things will pan out on day one of the league

T Wells brought every player they had available, 19 on the day I think, one of which was unfortunately injured in the warm up. We were meant to play 1's and 2's but they simply had too many players unavailable on that particular weekend but did give us some advance warning. The players/coaches of either club were not bothered by the imbalance of numbers and the 4 x 20 ish minute sessions were valuable to all who took part.

Result completely irrelevant and only posted on twitter to satisfy the members that couldn't get to the game. This was a chance of looking a the new players that both sides have signed, trying different combinations, new patterns and getting lads some game time and a chance to blow off the cobwebs. That is generally what the 1st pre-season is all about.

Sadly Chingford have pulled out of our 2nd pre-season game this Saturday so we are now looking for a replacement fixture.

Sir_Q I have to agree, the value of pre season games is for each individual club. Whether you win or lose is not relevant to the big picture.

All the best to you this season.  I like Westcombe Park as a Club and I was genuinely sorry to see you leave L&SE Prem.  It looks like you're going to be a force this season and I hope it all goes as well as planned!

V quiet on here with just over a week to go until ko! Anyone keen to venture a top and bottom 3 for London 1 South for the season ahead? Cornish complete the pre season prep with a game against Chobham on Saturday - hope to catch up with Cannon at the match.

I will be there on Saturday, hopefully we can grab a beer at the cricket club.

Need to think on my top and bottom 3.

After a good nights sleep my mad thoughts for the season in L1S are. Rational is following my own biased, Mighty Chobham induced research!!

Top 3 in no particular order:
Camberley - Money must finally maketh the man, they've taken 4 of our last season squad and are recruiting still.
Havant - The forever Bridesmaids of L1S, one of the best teams we played last season. This must be there season.
Medway - They seem to be very quiet this pre season, but I think they look ready for the next step.

My bottom 3 as above:
Dartfordians - They found it hard last season and I can't see much change for them.
Horsham - Got through on the play off, but I wonder if they have the strength in depth.
Belsize Park - Because there has to 3! But its always hard stepping up to L6.
Rucks and mauls may bust my balls, but whips and chains excite me!!

I can’t see past money bags Westcombe Park winning the league. They have thrown money around this summer like confetti. How they can justify spending that amount at this level I will never understand. As I have said before, I just hope it doesn’t ruin a great club. Lots of pressure on Rob Lawrence to get the best from his squad. Maybe he will moan less when his boys are winning.
