It's the beginning of the end. £60m? For what? Prime Leicester real estate?, unsaleable players that will take 70% of the profits, & history. Bit like buying a shop with a bit of "good will" thrown in. Elite rugby is up its own ar5e, a ticking time bomb waiting to implode.

I would agree with Looe,  prime property if I had 60 million would seriously look at buying redeveloping and moving club out of Leicester

I am sure that will happen - but along with gumph about "creating a modern easily accessible modern sports complex with both a true premiership stadium and purpose built training /community facilities"

Don't forget the promise of free transport from the city centre to the out of town stadium on match days. (Conveniently withdrawn after the first season on the grounds of under use)

Franchising the biggest club in England will not go down well. I know we have already had it with Coventry Wasps but we do not want to go down the road of turning rugby into the NFL where clubs just get moved around the country regularly just to get more money.

And for the record, yes I know we have Reading Irish and Salford Sharks but they remained fairly local to their original locales.

Not sure anyone has suggested franchising - merely moving the club to the outskirts of the city and re-developing Welford Rd

Moseley nearly got taken over a few years back and would have moved to Oxford.

Also don't think an NFL type move the club around the country is on as its traditionally one of the best supported clubs in the country.

Remember the attempt to buy Orrell and turn them into London South Africa about 15 years ago?

Didn't London South Africa try to buy Bristol at one point?

Why, they constantly have the biggest crowds - no where else are crowds as constantly large.

I could understand this point if it was Sale or Newcastle up for Sale (no pun intended), you would have arguable grounds for suggesting they may get better crowds if moved else, but Leicester is the worst club to suggest for this.

Richard, I am not sure 'out of Leicester' means out of the area - rather a move from current site to a new site on the perimeter of Leicester.
