Without DR's and loan players they will get hammered every week. What a bloody farce

I reckon the signings are a front for a whole raft of DR and loan players

Only four days to wait before we see a side in action.

But I fear one of two outcomes.

Either this squad plays - in which case I fear they may get slaughtered. (Good Nat 1 sides struggled against Championship teams this pre-season). To misquote the header, remember Manchester.

Or they bring in a number of loan/dr players (though not sure how they fund them or how many are sitting around doing nothing and available. ) and compete.

I think may well be the Cup Squad, when the league starts a whole raft of loan and d/r will appear.

The cup is usually reserved for the hopefuls. Richmond used to put second and third teamers into it. It's the league that will be the difficult one.
The difference between Nat 1 and the Championship, apart from bigger forwards, is that mistakes are punished much more severely at the higher level and they're also fitter.

It has been reported locally in East Yorkshire that out of contract rugby league winger Ryan Shaw has left Hull KR for a fresh challenge in rugby union.with Leeds/Yorkshire Carnegie.

Although heavily diluted there is a lot of history in that club, despite their attempt to roll it in glitter and rebrand it.

Onion Hawk,

Just wait until Sid James sees your choice of name.  He will go ape!!

Two of my sons played for Waterloo when they were at level 2. Virtually every game (apart from a surprise win away at Exeter Chiefs) followed the same pattern with Waterloo being competitive until about the 60 minute mark when the full time fitness of the opposition team took over.

A full time pro side should almost always beat a squad of part timers

Richmond bucked that trend as a part time team, often finishing stronger than full time opposition. I think the bigger factor will be the quality of the players and their motivation to play for Leeds? With quite a few of the older players simply getting a last pay day from rugby. Without significant amounts of quality loan players the current squad would be destroyed every weekend IMHO!

Well, whoever turns out for YC won't need much in the way of inspirational speeches from their coach. A weekly look at this thread should do the trick!

Richmond did a lot of extra fitness traing, starting in June. What have the Leeds players been doing?

A few of these players were out contract so it may have been self directed training....not sure about the league players as this is their season at present.

Anyone prepared to select their opening XV from the player we already know about?

This team, on paper, would have trouble avoiding relegation from N1.

BBC article on this says they have signed 27 players.
