If Williams does not play for Bath then they can still pay him but not be counted in their salary cap.

I'd imagine that is the purpose of the loan, otherwise why would getting him off their cap have been mentioned in the article?

I don’t understand why they took him on in the first place if they can’t use him.

Well looking at the results from the weekend Hull Ionians certainly felt the absence of some possible rumoured players to have made the move to Leeds!

If you are going to join in with this thread do try and be better informed.
Hull Ionians have not lost a single player to Leeds since the departure of our DoR.
We are currently missing some key players through injury. This probably won't improve soon but, it's a long season.

Didn't mean to hit a nerve SidJames LOL

In all honesty my interest lays slightly lower down the ladder at Level 5 but like you im just a fan of rugby on a wider scale. I'm simply basing this off the thread itself.

In that case .. i would question Hull's strength in depth, a key part to any successful team. As you say though, a very long season ahead!

Apology accepted.
I too am sorry for highlighting your limited knowledge.

Is there a list known to the `better informed` There seems to be little publicised information on the YORKSHIRE CARNEGIE website.

Can anyone list the players who have left their own clubs to join YORKSHIRE CARNEGIE. I wonder if there are any players out there who would refuse an offer in view of their financial dealings .
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

Joe Ford down as a coach on the website and not listed with the other 4 players.

It does state that Joe had been with YORKSHIRE CARNEGIE .......in the past

Joe Ford, 2009-10, 2011-13, 2016-2017 and 2019-Present

Can anyone else see a pattern emerging ........any bets when he might leave ?.

I was just checking out one of the Yorkshire player profiles with an unknown position and he must be the oldest ever rugby player!

I see what you did there Sid LOL

At least you have a sense of humour despite the humbling defeat at the weekend and not making any excuses about Leeds pinching your better players Clap

Ref. the Leeds announcement. Everything's either 'iconic' or a 'challenge' these days. An older phrase is apt: 'The proof of the pudding...'

" Total expenditure is restricted to just under £1m, of which, the Rugby Department will spend £600K" - be interesting to see what over a third of the budget is to be spent on.....

"The focus is now on stability and spending only what we earn, so a big emphasis on growing each of our income streams" - Other than matchday reciepts, what other significant income streams can there be?

It still looks like they are waiting for Santa.

I assume that they are oping that they can find another sugar daddy with £2m a year to thow away - I mean invest. And for that they are prepared to spend all thier income save for the RFU funding.

I am not sure where the £100k rent is counted, or where tcoaching staff, ransport and kit figure.
If all of those come from thr £600 then there really is not a lot for players.

If they were to be relegated, there budget would be less that £400k - and that would mean they would have to release most of those staff - which I suppose gives them an incentive.
