Hopefully there'll be a few visiting fans coming over & looks like a decent weekend in prospect weather-wise, with a great game as the centrepiece.

We will be having the Friday night reception at the club before selected home league game, with this Friday the first one. Open from 5.30pm with some nibbles & a chance to do an eve-of-match recce and some banter between supporters.

One note of caution - there are some road closures from 6pm due to the Jersey Rally. These affect the 'La Haule' back route from St Aubin's Bay to the club, but the main roads will remain open.

Looking forward to a titanic game on Saturday before which it would be good to sink a few pints of Pride on Friday evening.  Am I right in saying that Jersey Pride is brewed in Cornwall ?

Come on Jersey........

Yes, brewed in Truro by a Jerseyman - Steve Skinner. Steve has kindly hosted visiting rugby supporters from the Island on our last couple of trips, which have involved a coach directly from NQY airport to the brewery, maximising VDT! Wink Beer

Will travel be affected by the imminent arrival of Hurricane Michael ?
Not that I will be attending but currently I’m on holiday on Scilly and the Friday and Saturday ferry and flights are all cancelled.

Looks like the storm will miss Jersey.

Blowing up to F6 for a while tomorrow late morning/early afternoon, then reducing to a F5 and probably a F4/5 on Saturday.
It shouldn't affect sailings to the Island, but I would check with Condor first, just in case.

There is disruption to ferry services but weather this end doesn't look anything much to worry about as far as flights, or Saturday's game, are concerned. We coped with F8 last Saturday, so 2-3 grades lower - as forecast - should be a breeze...

I once did the very crossing and the Captain said it had got up to force 10 and he apologised for setting sail.  It still haunts me some 45 years later. Truly horrendous.

Sunny here today and the forecast for tomorrow looks splendid. Mainly sunny with highs of about 22 degrees. Maybe a tad breezy.

Conor Joyce will be a major loss for the Reds this weekend. Although Jake Upfield is a very capable replacement, Conor has had a great start to the season and will be a big loss for us in such a big game as will Roy Godfrey who has led the team very well.

I still think that our backs are a very dangerous unit this season, but this game will come down to the battle in the tight 8....fingers crossed.

Jersey squad:
Backs (15-9)

Auguy Slowik
Koch Marx
James Newey
Mark Best
Leroy Van Dam
Aaron Penberthy
Will Homer

Forwards (1-8)

Harry Morley
Charlie Maddison
Leeroy Atalifo
Jerry Sexton (capt)
Charlie Beckett
Max Argyle
Jake Upfield
Janco Venter

Replacements

Nick Selway, Cameron Holenstein, Sam Rodman, Dave McKern, Rory Bartle; Calum Waters, Brett Herron.

You're a long way from home Mike - will you get a flight back AND will the weather impact upon Douglas IOM's game whether home or away? After all those Dragon Rapides are a bit temperamental in the wind!

Hopefully flying home next Friday in time for our home game against Stockport.
Douglas should be in Salford this weekend and if the BBC forecast is correct they should be OK.
We hope to host Douglas on December 12th
