It looks like I will need to eat a large amount of Humble Pie. For two seasons I have been so sure that the very close commercial arrangements between the Sale Sharks and Sale FC was in all but name an acquisition of Sale FC by Sale Sharks.

My rationale for leaping to this rather staggering and presumptious collusion was:

- CorpAcq who own Sale Sharks are also the main sponsor and funder for Sale FC
- Sale Sharks and Sale FC share training grounds/coaches/players
- Sale FC Chairman Steve Smith sold his business Cotton Traders to Corp Acq
- Jimbo said I was talking nonsense
- My thesis perfectly fitted Steve Diamond's plan for a Northern Rugby Powerhouse

Now the Rugby Paper has come out with an article suggesting that Sale Sharks and Steve Diamond are maybe more focussed on a tie up with the mighty Yorkshire Carnegie

It looks like I may have to eat some or perhaps rather a lot of Humble Pie.

I am of course fully prepared for Jimbo to utter those chastening words of 'I told you so'.

I was going to pick Sale FC as very strong promotion candidates for 2019/20.............perhaps they still will be having signed some stellar talent in the close season and perhaps Corp Acq will be riding three horses rather than two.

A great sub plot is happening (or not)
