FB I have to take some exception to how you describe National 2 rugby. Stortford for one have not and have never had a ‘monster pack’ and are another side who show that you can win games in Nat 2 playing expansive rugby. There are indeed a few sides who adopt the forward heavy approac however they are much more than the one dimensional outfits you describe. You don’t find yourself at the dizzy heights of Ampthill without having an expansive game too.

Looks like Chinnor are ready to adapt their game next season anyway. 280kg of new props. I think we will opt for the scrum please sir....

I never said Stortford had a monster pack. However, they did not play an expansive game when they came to Chinnor ( unlike in previous seasons in Nat2 ). They adapted to the conditions on the day, kept it tight, tackled everything in sight and deserved their win.

Early in the season there were many posts about Ampthill's one dimensional style and rigidly sticking to Plan A. They now seem to trust their backs and lo and behold they haven't lost in ages........

Yes, it looks like we might be seeing a bit less of Holland, Goss and co with the ball next season.....

A little birdy tells me Chinnor will be seeing very little of Holland next year...

well after tonight's result is the unthinkable becoming possible? could Leicester actually be relegated?. they're 9 points clear of Newcastle but If Falcons beat Sale tomorrow that gap will be down to 5 or 4 points bearing in mind that Leicester still have to go to Kingston Park in the run-in. I hate to say it but if Leicester finished bottom then I could see the Premiership clubs expanding the league to keep Tigers in it. this would be atrocious protectionism in my opinion. whoever finishes last this season should go down, no matter how big the club is.

I was thinking similar… although Leicester would never be relegated, the Premiership would be expanded to 13 or 14 at the last minute.

Ampthill have a big game at home to 3rd Rosslyn Park next week.

Leicester have to travel to Newcastle Friday 12 April - huge game.

A's will beat RP at home and I think Falcons will beat Tigers with some ease . . given how awful Tigers were last night . . . A's V Tigers on an open field in Bedfordshire would be a great rugby story . .  but I am sure you are right TB premiership rugby would never let it happen!!!!

To be fair on a good day it is a glorious venue.
In the middle of Storm David on the other hand - though I suspect no rugby played that day was pleasant to watch.

The fact Cambridge won on their last two visits to Ampthill does endear it.
I suspect the game we lost may have been played on the old pitch.
