Mhazelnutille possible but not sure how they will keep the fans safe . A large no of tickets sold already but no seat allocation as yet.

You think France is letting lots of English in to their cities in a few months?

Not sure they will go ahead with any crowd at all - as somebody still trying to get refunds for the Italy v England game I wouldn't be spending anymore of my hard earned on foreign travel any time soon.

I was wrong (plus ca change). The match is postponed so until new date announced and then say prefer refund, it’s is behind closed doors or cancelled then they are hanging on to our hard earned.

Talk in todays press of various options for rugby at all levels incl mention of potential clash between internationals and Euro finals.

Would it not make sense for Euro organisers to postpone finals until next year ( say April) as it is unlikely it will have time to finish this years games and commence next years competition?

Likewise the RFU need to face up to reality given the range of issues currently faced by us all. I dont see any international games being played in front of crowds this year so playing in empty stadia is unavoidable. Games could be played at convenient locations because the full experience is just not going to be available to us punters.

Twickenham is convenient for TV - most of which is based in West London.
It has all the camera positions set up permanently.
And is owned by the RFU, so costs nothing to hire.

It is about getting TV money in to keep RFU and premiership clubs afloat and the odd scrap will be thrown to the community clubs.

Someone from the RFU was on the radio today and did admit that the community clubs are the game as without them there are no new players and therefore no england team.

Article on the internet says RFU see no value in holding Internationals behind closed doors due to the loss of ticket, hospitality and on-day sales money - estimated at £5m per game (which seems a bit low to me as ticket sales alone should exceed £5m per game)

Tickets might exceed £5m - but first do not forget VAT.
And what is the cost of opening up Twickenham with all the stewards, bar staff etc.
£5m could be the net.
It is still nearly £70 per seat

You may be correct £5m may be the nett - £70 per seat as a profit would make sense, as a gross is way under.

Agreed re cost of running a game at Twickenham - that was the gist of the RFU point regarding pointless without a crowd.

But you would run without bar and catering staff and with almost no stewards - so the costs are lower. Abnd you still get the TV money.
AndI seem to remember that that was significant.

So while it moght be half a loaf - surely that is better than no bread.

From the article I read, the RFU do not feel it is worth it without a crowd.

Still have to pay for the electricity, still have to provide hospitality for the limited number of blazers allowed in, still have to pay for the water the players will use. With a 80,000 capacity stadium, that won't be cheap.

But there is no fun in social distanced blazer hospitality in an empty Stadium (assuming it would be allowed in accordance with regs in force at the time) and if no money to be made then there is clearly no pointWink

Because Rolling-maul automatically searches for letter strings that spell naughty words and replaces them with fruit and nuts. Very frustrating if you live in Scun*horpe!

Confirmed today that the finals WILL NOT be in M a r s e ille this season.

2021 finals in M a r s e ille, 2022 final at Tottenham Hotspur FC.

As yet no venue confirmed for this season.

As I said before, I wouldn't spend money on travelling to France.
