That was a very poor second half from England, we will not be allowed to go to sleep like that next time out.

If you'd have given me this as a final score prior to the game, I'd have snapped your arm off.

Do New Zealand fall off like that, if they think they are going to win a world cup they are living in dream land. The crowd were silent, it was like watching a game in a morgue, after last week in Dublin, that was as poor a second half as I've seen in a long time against what is possibly the weakest team in the 6 Nations.

It wasn`t quiet in the pub where I was watching it.
As I said above, they got the bonus point ,the game was won what else could they do.Harder game in two weeks ,why risk injuries. |

The game in Dublin would have made all the other teams in world cup look on with concern, that second half in London won't cause any lost sleep in the Southern hemisphere, Jones said before the game England would be better and he was looking for them to turn it on in the final quarter, sorry I didn't see it. France were able at times to cut through England, the defence that was hitting Ireland back never materialized against France, some great kicking, some superb finishing in the first half, the second half where O'Driscoll was predicting 80 points didn't happen England went to sleep, I would be kicking backsides after that showing, that was not the ruthless performance Jones hinted at. A lot of work to do and only a week and a bit to do it.

The game in Dublin was close to a complete performance by England - powerful and clinical; to expect a side to back that up a week later in the same style is probably not realistic. France were clinically dispatched, with the game over as a contest by half-time, and to criticise England for only scoring 14 more points in the second half, in what was effectively by that stage a dead rubber, seems churlish, especially as they didn't concede a point in the second half. I'm glad England didn't rack up 80 or 90 points, as they might have started to think they were world beaters and/or the finished article; as it is, there's hopefully still some hunger to get a win in Cardiff - and I just want a win in Cardiff, even if it's ugly, I'm not too worried about first-minute tries, or bonus points, or whether people in the S-Hem might lose sleep. To think that a team can produce a series of flawless/complete performances to win a World Cup doesn't conform to experience. England showed flaws in 2003 in the group game v Samoa, the QF v Wales and in the final, but they had enough about them to get the result they needed on each occasion. And I don't think it's right to say that NZ wouldn't fall off in the same way. Since the last RWC, NZ haven't scored more than 57 points against a tier 1 nation, unless you count Italy (I'm afraid I don't, as things stand), against whom they've racked up 66 and 68.

I wasn't the only person deflated by that second half , let's hope the result against Wales is a good one, but for me it has to be a performance that shows we are indeed a world cup contender, that second half against France made me think we are a long way off being contenders. I think this side is at least a year away from being considered candidates for a final. Probably win the 6 nations, but pre 2003 England were winning in the southern hemisphere and making other sides worry, as I said the game against Ireland will make the SH sides think.

2nd half against France, surely a case of 'cue on the rack' - not too worried about that with regard to the World Cup where the meaningful games are in the knockout. Impressed that in both games the England side has been up for it from the start, not when they are 10 points down! |

I agree, the side has started with a bang, just wish those who play for my team would do it at club level lol.
