Bit sad that the only Cheshire player selected is an ex pro who is at the end of his career. Surely this could have been an opportunity to give a younger up and coming player an opportunity.

No offence Briggsy.

Tincknell isn't a new cap, he toured in 2010.

Pin the Tail on the Donkey Selection Policy

Aside from ex-Pro selections, two lads from Durham the CB with the worst playing record in the County Championships, clearly good players in a poor side then.

Who are Kent playing in the Final? Wink

Must have been Briggsy's long standing affinity to Cheshire that swung it.

If you saw how they demolished the Cornish pack (and I mean completely destroyed them in the scrum), you'd know.

Three players from Yorkshire and all three from Hull Ionians. Big well done to Joe, Lewis and James and also, former Hull Ionian Greg Lound (now of Surrey!).

I’m not sure how much performance in the county championship actually contributes to selection, I believe that appearing in that is simply a tick box exercise to ensure qualifying criteria is met. Most selections are pre-determined before the CC even starts based on performances throughout the season.

I think so. I heard of one player being picked ahead of one who was actually playing well in the county game simply because the selectors wanted this player for England. (the player in question did not do well and is not in the team)

Slightly sad that the truly aspirational team within the Community set up ie England Students , will not be around next year due to budget cuts whilst a nice end of season freebie for a mixture of old pros and players , some of whom have paid only lip service to county rugby, continues. At least the RFU Council members going on the trip will get their end of season jolly. I had sympathy for the community game losing money but if they then choose to spend the reduced amount in this way that soon diminishes

the 2 Durham lads only played in 1 game. Most of the squad play level 7 and below so as a county think we are doing OK

Exactly my point. Players are pre-selected prior to the County Championship even starting and then told to make sure they make themselves available for one game just to tick that box. As many others have said it makes a bit of a farce out of the competition
