I'm new to this forum so don't take offence to anything I say in these predictions but at the moment based on what I have seen so far my predictions would be as follows:

Top 4:
London Irish
Yorkshire Carnegie
London Welsh
Doncaster

I think the top two will finish quite a way above the rest

Mid-table:
Ealing
Bedford
Pirates
Nottingham
Jersey

I think ET could finish in 5th which would be a lot better than I thought before the start.

Towards the bottom:
L Scottish
Rotherham
Richmond

The top two are easy to predict and so is 12th (Richmond) but with the other 9 positions it Is almost a case of pulling a number out of a hat. I could of quite easily put Donny 6th or 7th but with the nucleus of last season's squad there I would hope that we'd pick up our form at some point.

And also this season I think the top team (Irish) will go up through the play-offs because I think they're a cut above the rest i'm afraid. That doesn't mean that they won't lose the odd game along the way but their depth should get them over the promotion line I think.

No doubt at all about LI. They started slowly and are getting better and better. Doubt if anyone will get close. A Premiership team serving their time for an off season. I think they will be like Saints and Harleys and go back up and stay up.

I'm trying to think of a scenario where Irish wouldn't go straight back up but I'm struggling. I think only their own complacency would derail them but I don't think that will happen which the coaching staff that they've got. I'd love for a team like YC or Donny to go up to upset the Premiership Applecart but I sadly can't see it i'm afraid.

Nottingham in the play-offs from a late run of form.
If only Nottingham was in Wales it would be perfect.

I think Ealing may make the top 4.

Well they've got every chance Stalwart with the way they're playing at the moment. That would be a surprise because I had ET nowhere near my top 4 when the season started, I thought they'd finish 8th or 9th. Maybe Ealing are last season's Donny?.

Stalwart, what chance do you give Pirates of upsetting LI tomorrow. I think it could happen. I always think Pirates are one of those teams that always has a shock result in them. I remember a couple of years back Pirates beating Bris at the Mennaye. I think Irish could suffer the same fate but Pirates will have to play out of their skin but I think they will. They'll throw everything at Irish. Pirates by 3 points in a high-scoring game.

I agree with everything that you say DKF with the exception of LS. They will finish way above 10th, possibly in top 4 IMHO.

LS certainly looked a top 6 side at Castle Park and of course they went to St Peter and gave Jersey a bit of a hiding. My concern with them would be their squad, I don't know whether they've got the depth to cover for potential injuries later in the season. If they can keep their first XV fit then LS will be safely in mid-table, but that applies to a lot of teams.

Two of the interesting questions at each end of the table for me.

1. Will London Irish go unbeaten all season? (strong possibility and major achievement if they do?)
2. Will Richmond get one win? (strong possibility of it not happening, but I hope that they do). Should pick up some bonus points along the way, so I won't say pointless season.

In answer to your questions Morgie Man I would say that:
1. Irish will lose two games this season (at the Mennaye and Castle Park)
2. As for Richmond, unfortunately I don't know where a win is coming from for them. I really hope that they win a couple of games before the end of the season. Maybe they could target games like Notts and Pirates as well as the two Scottish games as potential W's.

I'd obviously like you to be right about Pirates, but in truth it's very unlikely. There have been a number of games recently where we've been good in one half, but poor in the other for some reason (it's not a fitness thing as sometimes it's the first half and sometimes the second when we play well. We've lost the last 4 league games by small margins, but our form isn't great. Maybe you're right that we've got a big game in us. The lads always give 100%, which is all I ask as a supporter, but we've been frustrated losing at Roth and Jersey to the last kick of the game.
I hope the strange KO time doesn't reduce the size of the crowd - not sure why we're doing it because it seems we don't have the capability of showing the international game in the marquee or in the clubhouse.
We do, however have the bonus of Pirates Amateurs v Lanner in a Devon and Cornwall League match straight after the CP v LI game. Proper old school local derby, should be fun!

To beat Irish I think Pirates will need a bit of luck. They'll need the rub of the green from the officials. It does seem unusual for a game at the Mennaye to be a 1pm KO on a Saturday. Obviously Irish will be the red-hot favourites to win the game but I think CP have a "miracle match" type performance in them. We'll see. To be honest though I don't think Pirates should get too down if they do get well beaten because Irish are by far the best team in the division.

I was wondering the same. 1pm is a bit of a nothing time. It doesn't give anyone the chance to get home to watch the England match (unless they live in Alexandra Road and leave a few minutes before kick off). I thought it might have been a ploy to keep a strong contingent of Irish supporters around to watch the main event of the international day at half five, but I'd have thought that a 3pm kick off would have done this more effectively by depriving them of the time to find somewhere warmer, cheaper and more comfortable to watch the game. I'm amazed the club (Cornish Pirates that is) couldn't fit the marquee out with a way of watching the match for the almost captive audience that they have.

All in all, I'd have thought that a Sunday kickoff would have worked better. I was tempted to come along myself until I realised that it clashed with a Redruth home game, I suspect I'm not the only Redruth regular.

well the second question has now been answered, as to the first, it's a distinct possibility, but they are beatable, their defensive mid field is vulnerable, the question is whether anyone can starve their forwards of enough possession to exploit that.

Ealing Trailfinders to beat London Irish on the 28th January.

hmm not sure about that but Ealing are hard to beat at Vallis Way so I'm sure they'll give Irish a decent run for their money. I certainly think Irish will lose at fortress Castle Park

So happy that Richmond actually won a game (and hope that they do win some more). That in itself is an achievement.

Just can't see anyone beating Irish, except maybe in the playoffs ! That is were the danger lies for them, nerves and expectation as well as teams having nothing to lose by having a real go at them.

That's true. I suspect Irish may be slightly vulnerable towards the end of the regular season if they start resting players In preparation for the play-offs. There's a big gulf in class between LI and the rest with the possible exception of YC.
