I think the problem people have with Hartpury mainly and Yorkshire is the import of a lot of temporary players to bolster their losing sides. It’s seen as unsportsmanlike.

Albert Fishwick, I think the problem many of us have with your club is the sheer arrogance and grandstanding which went on when the daft name of Yorkshire Carnegie was chosen. You are not a County side and don't deserve that tag. The Club is Leeds and you are based in Leeds. If Jersey suddenly became Channel Islands Santander, I doubt you or our friends in Guernsey or anyone else would be impressed.  Change the name back and come over as a little more humble, and many would wish you every success, both on the pitch and in admin and other issues.
Come on Jersey........

But this is a professional league, or at least it is supposed to be, not some kind of gentlemen's club. I accept the ups and downs of my own club's fortunes and there has clearly been a change of heart by the main funders which will likely make things more difficult for us, potentially in a significant way. That's how it goes in this artificial environment where almost no clubs can sustain themselves without a benefactor.

Anyway, I shall keep trotting along while ever my team subsists and if they fold I will go elsewhere. And if Nottingham, or Bedford, or even Hartpury find someone with deep enough pockets to have a tilt at the Premiership, should that still be an option, well good luck to them.
That's easy for you to say.

The sad thing Albert is that you follow a team, not a club.

And all of those arguments (with which I have some sympathy) were well rehehazelnutd at the time. The thing is, they had nothing to do with the fans. The then owners/directors decided it was a strategy to try to create wider interest and build a top-level team for the county. In that respect it has plainly failed, although many hours have been invested in seeking to help junior clubs in the county.
But aiming charges of arrogance against those of us who just pay to turn up and watch doesn't seem, to me at least, to make a great deal of sense.
That's easy for you to say.

No ill-feeling against you Albert. I stuck it for 15 years from the first Prem game against Bath but got fed up having the Rhinos shoved down my face at every opportunity. Are there any players left there these days that identify with the fans since Plug left? Just seems like a team of mercs to me.

Albert, re-read Westcoasters post. He clearly says ‘your club’ and not the fans, who are a very decent bunch of people IMHO and I for one have really enjoyed their company when I have made the trip to Leeds and of those who have visited Jersey.
I sincerely hope that the clubs financial problems are sorted without anyone being out of pocket or the club falling into administration.

Thank you Brizzer, well put.
Albert, my comment wasn't meant personally or against you or any "Leeds" fans.
I was solely annoyed at the choice of name, I still am; and to listen to Ian McGeechan saying he was going to make the club the best in the land p-e-e-d quite a few of us off. It came across as unrealistic and arrogant.  Ok, nothing wrong with ambition and yes I know its a professional League, but go about your business in a quiet manner, let the deeds on the pitch dictate what you shout about, not the other way round. Pirates and Blues are just two examples of Championship teams /clubs where there is a real team heritage and empathy with town and community In Leeds' case, the shouting came first and earlier this season, the writing seemed very much on the wall. Now, perhaps, things are better due to some player acquisitions which I don't know enough about comment on. I'm sure others will over the next few months.  And I echo Brizzer's comments about wishing to see Leeds' problems sorted as soon as possible
In a new thread.....
Come on Jersey........
