I know what you mean Kimbo. Reading the club announcement again alongside the Bellylaff article, presumably sourced from Wasps, my judgement was that he’s probably main squad.

If you cannot find use for him in the match squad, I am sure we would love him on loan.
He did play for Nottingham during his time at Wasps.

He made 3 appearances  , I think they were off the bench in 2017 he came as cover for injuries

Maybe - clear as mud though (the Belly is about as reliable as a source of news as the Beeb and the Daily Heil, so I'm not fully convinced, but will add Langley's name to the First XV listing elsewhere. On your head be it Tongue).

Somewhat puzzlingly, Ealing have just signed 23 year old Ryan Roach from Moseley, where he was captain. He's listed as a Hooker. That makes 4 on the roster, With Alun Walker, Matt Cornish, and Paul Davis. Walker is a stalwart moving towards the end of his career but still very effective, Cornish has been brought through Ealing's academy and is only 21, but scored nearly a dozen tries in all competitions, and Davis has joined from Exeter. Thus, not sure where Roach could fit in. Ealing has 7 props on the roster, so maybe he can swing there at times? Don't know.
I know that Walker had offers from Prem and Pro14 clubs, but he is on record in TRP saying he was staying with Ealing.

Okay - even more puzzling. Just don't see the need for 4 Hookers on the roster. Even if someone suggested one as developmental, Cornish is young enough to fit the mold, but has over 50 first team appearances.

nephew went to uwic with ryan roach. remain good friends. it is my understanding that he has signed there as a 'professional bag holder' - an apprenticeship of such. clean boots watch walker / cornish / david pick up what he can etc. has been told not to expect much game time. might go on loan to camberley rfc

Crazy stockpiling of players . . if he is a 4 th choice player he would be far better off playing week in week out in a Nat 1 club, surely?

But he may get spotted by a different team there and sign for them. Much better to have him locked away, just in case. 😉

Do you mean just for the road, or for the road, houses and stadium?

From The Pirates site:

The Cornish Pirates latest signing to announce is that of Samoan international lock Fa’atiga Lemalu, aged 30, who has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Fa’atiga first played rugby at the age of 11 for East Tamaki local club in South Auckland. As for his education that was East Tamaki Primary, Ferguson Intermediate, Otahuhu College and then De La Salle College where he was captain in 2006-07. He also played for New Zealand Secondary Schools in 2007.

After playing for the amateur club Papatoetoe in 2011-12, Fa’atiga has played professional rugby for Munakata Sanix Blues in Japan (2013-17) and was also named in the Japanese Sunwolves squad which made their first appearance Super Rugby appearance in 2016. He played briefly for Saracens in 2017 and then for Auckland ahead of a move to Yorkshire Carnegie in 2018, from where he joins the Cornish Pirates.

In his international career, following a debut for Samoa against Tonga in 2012, he unluckily missed the 2015 Rugby World Cup because of injury. As for a last cap, that was against England at Twickenham in 2017.

With reference to this latest signing, Director of Rugby Chris Stirling has commented:

Fa’atiga is an experienced lock who possesses high levels of power and physicality. His lineout skills are also of a high standard to match his contributions both on and off the field. In short, he will be a great addition to the Pirates, providing extra strength and competition in the second-row.

Fa’atiga has also said:

It’s great to have the opportunity to join not just a proud club but also one with such a rich history. I am now really looking forward to add my contribution and to get stuck in.
