Hot on the heels of the first new signings for the 2019/20 Championship season, Bedford Blues have added two more players to their ranks.

Heading to Goldington Road next season will be back rower Joe Atkinson who joins from Premiership side Wasps and Welsh prop Scott Jenkins who has been recruited from Scarlets.

Speaking about the new additions, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: “It is great that we are able to add two very impressive players to our ranks and the spine of the squad for next season is really taking shape.

“Joe was a standout player for London Scottish before heading up to Wasps and we’re thrilled that he’ll be bring plenty of nous to Goldington Road. With Ben Cooper and Camilo Parilli-Ocampo leaving the club, it was important to bring in front row option so having a talented player like Scott join the ranks is a massive boost”

C.P.O. Camilo Parilli-Ocampo

I have known Camilo for a long time back to when he played mini`s and Youth rugby at Ealing Trailfinders. He went onto Loughborough Students and was picked up by Leicester Tigers. He did come back to Ealing but Ealing failed on this occasion to acknowledge his capability. He seemed to flourish at Bedford and I have seen him have several superb games against his old club.

I am surprised that he is regarded as a `second choice` prop by another Bedford supporter on here. I really rate Alex Penny as an excellent prop but is he also rated as a `second choice` prop.

Good luck to Camilo and I hope he continues play well for his new club.

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

McCarthy and Penny are our 1st choice props.

Penny has done well as Cooper was the 1st choice up until end of last season and since then Penny has held the 1st choice mantle.

Ocampo is a great prop, but McCarthy is too and is like having a centre on the pitch, there are not many props who can play for 80 mins, have set up tries with 15 metre passes or chip/grubber kicks for wingers to score tries from.

Good to see Blues finally have a quality 7 again after many years lacking in this area.

Blues lose 2 huge players to retirement at 29 years old

Jarad Williams No. 8 - best we've had for a long time
Mark Flanagan 2nd row - immense in the lineout.

Both made nice comments about Blues http://www.bedfordrugby.co.uk/content/time-say-goodbye

Decent scrummager & can put in a full shift. Would not be leaving if we were not in the financial deep brown stuff. Donny are making some good signings for next season.

I'm glad to see my old school referred to in the blurb  as 'a renowned rugby school'. Yet another South African in Spencer.
Sad to see Luc Jones go but no doubt Mond will get a good replacement.
