Cov sign fullback Louis Brown from OEs on a 2.5 year contract.
Also wing Ryan Olowofela comes in on DR with Northampton.

This in the wake of losing both Bulumakaus, Max Trimble, James Stokes, Henry Purdy, also Andy Forsyth being loaned to Tigers all season. It was all getting a bit thin in the back division.

Edit: Oh, and Halaifonua on a massive ban of course. How could I forget?

2.5 years Hope that's a vote of confidence that the Championship will still be there Kimbo .

I guess it was a done deal before the announcement by the RUF, Jon.
However, Chairman Jon is on record as saying we're staying full-time pro, so...

Louis is a very talented, skilful player.  Is this the start of an OEs exodus?

backrowb sadly around 8 of the first team squad have already left as the club no longer able to fulfil its side of the contracts. A good number have stayed as seen by the win over DMP and a brave effort away at Chinnor.

I'd send those new players back, it seems the "lost" players are all playing tomorrow LOL

Eh?

Junior Bulumakau-out, remainder of season
Max Trimble - out, remainder of season
James Stokes - departed to Premiership
Henry Purdy - departed to Premiership

Andy Forsyth - recalled from Leicester.

That would be 1 in 5 available. ‘All playing’? Your maths is worse than the RFU’s. pear.

I could have added James Martin and Will Maisey too, as they too are both broken. But hey.

I thought the Championship wasn't providing players to the premiership.
Jimmy Martin was due to start for Cambridge - obviously that is now off.

Wonder if he's available for you this week. Can't play for Cov as he didn't play in the Cup rounds.
Could still be injured of course...

I expect virtually all of the US internationals in the championship to disappear there over the next few years...

Could very well be the case, just depends on how professional this league gets.

Think the reason he's leaving now is due to the uncertainty around Scottish's status next season and so this deal is probably a guareenteed offer to be a pro past may, and one stipulation is that he must join immediately.

MRL !

Major League Rugby (MLR or USMLR) is a professional rugby union competition and the top-level championship for clubs in North America. In the 2020 season it will be contested by twelve teams: eleven from the USA and one from CANADA

Bedford sign Coventry fly half Will Maisey with immediate effect. Sounds worrying for Will Hooley who has suffered another concussion (3rd this season I believe and also suffered at least 1 last year I think) and unclear when he will be available to return. Assuming he makes a full recovery, wouldn’t be surprised to see him joining the MLR soon either.

Will's been a great servant of the club over many years
It's always sad to see local lads moving on, but if it's for the best, so be it
He'll go with the best wishes of the vast majority of Cov fans, I'm sure.

One in, one out for the Reds - Aaron Penberthy will retire from pro rugby at the end of the season.

There has been an exodus but this has slowed down now. I see the 1st XV had 7 U21’s in game v Rams on Saturday. The exodus is now having an impact on 2nds & 3rd teams being unable to fulfil fixtures with players being moved up the ranks. They will remain mid-table but more players will leave over the summer and they will struggle in Nat 1 next season.
