It was not until I read this thread that I realized just what a useful service the National Leagues provide for the Championship - both players and coaches.

RFU - meddle with the player pathway at your peril.

Amazing signing, I would have thought your noisy neighbours would have liked a signing like that.

Premiership have spent all their money on overseas players or madly priced English players so apparently there are a goodly number of English Premiership players available.

Agree totally for many at the higher echelon its just a top up too their retirement package which I totally agree with as its a hard physical and short employment. Just annoying that we have to pay for it.

I think the "retirement package" signing is probably the exception rather than the rule. There must be a shed load of South Sea Islanders playing in the Championship & Nat 1 who are great additions to their rugby squads and are playing for journeymen wages and probably sending money home - good luck to them. In the last few seasons Jersey have recruited some absolute quality young talent from overseas and recently announced another couple of young Australian forwards who should get their chance in the "shop window" of the Championship. For every "big ticket" signing from overseas there is probably a score of great value lads.

Is that what the Championship is? A shop window for overseas players? If you look at, for example, South African competitions of similar standard, they represent an opportunity for home grown players to develop their skills
in a competitive environment. For every non British player in a team there is a British one excluded.
As South African born myself I hope I’m not xenophobic, but common sense says one should limit the numbers more strictly than at present.
This importation of overseas mercenaries is a very short term fix. Then some are treated badly, as by you know who recently.

Ampthill determined to make a good go of their opportunity at this level, but above remarks still apply.

Totally agree Pappashanga . . often Aussies/kiwis/Islanders and South Africans are just presumed to be better and the Championship definitely has too many blocking the development of local talent.
