Sale were dismal yesterday and Leicester little better. Perhaps the question in this thread needs to be changed to "Can Caldy win this league?"

At the moment I see no reason Loughborough could not win the league, nor reason to definitely say Caldy could not be relegated.

Give it a few weeks and I might change my mind.

Of course even if by Christmas we think we know the strengths of the sides  - injuries can change the dynamic.

it is a great season for everyone other than manicurists - none of us will have any fingernials left.

I completely agree Camquin, only 5 games in and every team could still win the league and every side could still be relegated. Caldy supporters are obviously chuffed (and probably incredulous) that their boys have reached 1st spot in the league (if only briefly) but the supporters and players know that this could be turned around in an instant.

However saying all of that, great credit has to go to the squad of players and coaches and the volunteers and sponsors whose hard work over very many years has made this possible. Caldy's sponsors who are very much in the background but selflessly provide the essential finance for all the right and commendable reasons. This group of sponsors has provided the platform for Caldy to grow steadily over probably a 15 to 20 year period and they have enabled a lot of young men to challenge themselves at a level which would not be possible without the sponsors' financial contribution.

Without them the club would be so much poorer!

Have you got the right Sale? Surely your post refers to Sale Sharks not Sale FC !

Re the possibility of Sale Sharks being relegated and Sale FC being promoted, would the 2 teams even be allowed in the same league given their self-professed close ties?

Loughborough may be off the pace, but there are 25 games left.
I do not know if they have players coming back from injury.
Who knows they could be about to turn their season around.
Prediction is a mugs game.

Fully agree Camquin, I clearly remember several seasons ago DMP were second from bottom of then NAT 3 (Now Nat 2) at Christmas looking straight down the barrel of relegation, they then went on to have an incredible unbeaten run to finish up runners up unfortunately they lost the playoff game to Cinderford who got promoted. Which underlines your comment "Prediction is a mugs Game" (Especially at this early stage of the season)

So at least each of the teams has lost 33% of their fixtures so far.

What does this say about the league?

Is their a home/away split?

I finished watching the sharks two seasons ago couldn’t take anymore... if Diamond was a premier football manager ( not a shareholder) he would have been sacked years ago.

Will Sharks recall Odogwe as back up for the injured Yarde or is he now fully contracted to Sale FC?

I think it says that we are 6 matches in with everything to play for. It does seem to be a well balanced league with relative newbies (3rd season or less) mostly doing well.

18 away wins
1 draw

Not sure what that means.

In answer to Workerbee's comment about Odogwu I think his defensive work on saturday would be unlikely to lead to an immediate recall. Whilst he scored 3, he was at fault for at least 2 of OE's tries coming up out of the line on both occasions.
