Big Jock Lad,

Personally I didn't have a problem with the parents being charged by Rotherham. It was expensive at £15 a head without a programme and although there seemed to some angst from a few in the Caldy party in my view the responsibility lay with Caldy to confirm the financial arrangements well ahead of travelling to Clifton Lane, and to negotiate a discount for the Mini's and their parents ahead of time.

I was surprised to be told that Roth had refunded the £1,500 to Caldy and my view was that was extremely generous of Roth, however as the person from the Caldy party who told me that also told me that a programme at Roth cost £7, there may be some doubt in his facts. An excess of drink can scramble the mind.

On the coach home I did ask the Caldy Secretary what Caldy's policy was re Minis and parents from other clubs attending Caldy home games and he advised that Minis were free but parents paid the normal £10 entry fee (inclusive of matchday programme). Accordingly I was somewhat at a loss to understand what the fuss was all about, unless of course the Caldy parents hadn't previously factored in this cost - but that of course was down to them.

I think the guy who got hold of the mic to castigate Roth for charging the parents should apoligise to Roth seeing as Caldy charge parents too.

You're right, Keppeltitan , but I doubt that an apology will be forthcoming from the individual concerned
I could apologise, on his behalf, but don't think that would be quite the same thing Confused

It should be discussed and agreed by those in charge, prior to arrival to avoid confrontation and ill feeling

in my eyes, everyone related to a mini tour or curtain raiser, should be allowed free entry - to boost the love of the game, increase supported and the vibe, to show good will and the hosting club accepting a spike in drink/food sales as the financial result

in this context, Caldy should have sought clarification prior to travelling and negotiated if not happy with Roth's response - not publicly lambaste their decision and shame them into refunding the money
