Mmmm I have to go with the consensus here. Sale have been awful in recent weeks, gifting tries and tending to only play in the 2nd half by which time its too late.

Perhaps they could borrow the odd South African from up the road.Wink

It will be interesting how Sale Sharks approach this game , they have a jets game tonight and Sunday and an Under 18 game on Friday will their fringe players play for the Jets or FC? Bearing in mind that all their international under 20 players will be unavailable for 5 games in February and March when they will be in the 6 nations games. It will put a lot of pressure on Sale FC to maintain continuity of selection.

That's the price you pay for selling out...Neil Briggs will have his work cut out with this selection headache.

Couldn't agree more SW.....its the price you pay for DR players....but they didn't sell out.
Trying to get continuity from a team with dual registered players is nigh on impossible. Eventually all the hard work put in over the last 3/4 seasons by the core players that got Sale to N1 will be for nothing. Players leaving in frustration by playing 2nd team rugby, the DOR must be pulling his hair out with the lack of control he has with the DR players after having put so much effort into getting the club to its current league position.

Sale FC must insist on the same core of players being made available week in week out till the end of the season from the Sale Sharks set up or recruit a team of players capable of competing & playing at N1 level and be masters of their own destiny whatever that may be.

Personally I would prefer to see the latter option in such scenarios as the senior club rarely jeopardise their own position.

I see Sale FC in a relegation dogfight sooner than later this season.

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.

Now that is a from-your-heart post on a topic that has been widely discussed in the past on almost every section of this forum since when I can't remember. Hope you get it sorted quickly, or the slippery slope will get slippier and slippier. When I first started drinking nothing slipped down my throat as sharp as a Double Diamond.

I personally couldn't care less what team Sale united put out .We will have our usual lads out who on form can match most teams .Win or lose the lads will all stay for the xmas party be joined by their families ,2nd team lads ,and a great many supporters its what a good xmas party should be like at a rugby club

was told ,at the end of 16/17 we will not see you next season but we will the one after .think not otley

Back to the old DR debate i see

Caldy win for me

back to the mass debate. Did anyone read the recent BBC Sport article on Hartpury and its roll call of superstars?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/46487517

if i were sale, i would play the jets/A games with up and coming talent, to prove themselves, harvested and spat out, like they do already

Those established Jets / A league players, who prove their worth and have potential to invest in should be removed from these games and made to play N1 for Sale FC, as a core group of players, to toughen them up and let them play mens rugby, week in week out, with the benefit of 2 coaching set ups etc

that must make the transition to elite rugby a lot easier, than a molly coddled snowflake existence, of which many young players now lead, with a positive of, if they don't make it at the top, they have been in the shop window of the 3rd tier of English rugby, to pursue a career in the championship, abroad in emerging markets or too make a pretty penny as a semi pro?!

It will be a brilliantly competitive game I am sure. Sale have been spluttering in the past few weeks but so have Caldy so it is difficult to call. I endorse Pen 15's view of things and with the prospect of a few beers in the evening at the Christmas party it should be as good before and after the game as during it.

The last time Sale FC visited Paton Field it was pretty much winner takes all, Sale established a commanding half time lead before Caldy exploded into life in the second half enabling the home side to nick it at the death and confirm promotion to National 1.

There was some 1500 + at Paton Field that day in hot sunny conditions. I doubt there will be quite that many this time around and with torrential rain at the moment conditions will be soft to heavy.

As far as the line ups are concerned I expect Sale to be at their strongest. Steve Diamond is a hugely competitive man and I am sure he will release as many Premiership DR players to Jonathan Keep and Sale FC as he can. This should ensure there are no slip ups this time around against the Ravers.

Should be a titanic derby game with intense local rivalry softened by mulled wine, Degsy's whisky and Christmas bonhomie to Jimbo Lad and all his colleagues from Sale

This isn't Liverpool against Man Utd....................it is more important than that!

It may not be more important (to some) but it'll definitely be more entertaining!

Jimbo............Degsy's tipples are the finest quality. You must have done something right to be invited to drink pitchside with the select few!

Just to clarify the kick off time is 2.00pm not 3.00pm as per Sale FC website make sure you are there early as it will be a full house.
