It gets worse:

In other news, a victory over those who assume they are adopting some sort of moral / intellectual high ground by proclaiming social networking to be nonsense!

Looking worse by the minute, but the good news is, it's down a whole 2cm according to the Environment Agency!

It's literal high ground we're looking for, not moral!
That picture shows the training pitches, the main pitch is still above water level - though obviously very wet. Talking to a couple of CAB's last night they seemed very confident that the game would go ahead. As it looks like Martin Rice may be warming the bench, is there any chance we could have Joycer back for the w/e? Wink

Last win at Polson would of seen a team take the field made up of these players ... Craig Bonds, Nathan Pryor, Sam Heard, Marek Churcher, Nick Croker, Ben Priddey, Steve Instance, Andy Hawken, Lewis Vinnicombe, Adam Flide, Simon O'Sullivan, Scott Martin, Mark Richards, Andy Hymans, Paul Thirlby, Bede Brown, James Lancaster, Glenn Cooper, Nathan Pedley, Ian Hambly ..I've possibly/probably missed a couple but those who will take the field this weekend, who were there back in 2004 are Bondsy, Paul Thirlby, Ben Priddey and Lewis Vinnicombe .... question now is ...Will it be this weekend?????

From the Launceston Website:

"As at 11am on Friday 21st December, tomorrow's derby clash between The All Blacks and Redruth is definitely ON. Kick off is scheduled for 2.30pm.

We are aware that we could be facing some severe weather conditions throughout tonight and on Saturday. Should the game be in any doubt we will post further details in the morning. Please check the website tomorrow."

So .... at the moment it's ON!

To answer an earlier question, if the game does go ahead there will be full comm on BBC Cornwall FM & Online from 2.30pm.

It will be myself and Dave Jenkins behind the mics as Brownie is up a mountain somewhere in France. Apparently it`s drier there.

Cheers,

Dick

Looking forward to hearing from you Dick .... can't say the same about the Launceston one-eyed wonder though! Will he even acknowledge that The Reds are there? Bring back Peter Richmond!

Glad I'm at Polson and not reliant on Dave ''Cornishallblacks'' Jenkins' summarising of events. Ouch
He's probably home now, polishing his monocle... Here's hoping we give him a good reason to moan.Wink

If there was ever a good reason to get to Polson it would be to avoid listening to Dave Jenkins!Clown

Packing my inflatable armbands right now...
@RossiT: I sit atop all creation, and all that I survey is great... and Cornish!

Sadly it looks like I will have to listen to Dick & Dave tomorrow as work prevents me getting to Polson by kick-off time. Should be back in harness for Boxing Day !!

Sounds like it's started raining again!!!!

Latest from Launceston Website:

As at 9.00am this morning this afternoon's derby game between The All Blacks and Redruth is in doubt!

The training pitches are once again completely under water and there is now 'standing' water on the main pitch. The access roads around the ground have also flooded. The weather forecast is for continual rain throughout the rest of the day!

We have informed Redruth and the match referee of the current situation.

We will make a final decision around 10.00 this morning.

Amazing, I really thought it would be called off. Conditions are certainly far worse than they were when the Northampton game was cancelled and Launceston were only too happy to rearrange the fixture at Franklins Gardens, thereby denying their supporters of the chance to watch Saints at Polson.
I wonder why they don't seem so keen to repeat the exercise with Redruth? Wink

pretty sure it was the ref that called that game off about 30 mins before kick off, having just driven past it wouldn't surprise me if something similar happened today! Damn I bit ;)

the 'definitely on' update on the Lanson website has been removed, imagine the 'game off' update should be arriving any minute. Latest pics show water 20m from the pitch and nearly impassable puddles on the main road

just copied from the website

On behalf of Launceston Rugby Club I am informing all who were intending to travel to Polson this afternoon to see the derby clash between The All Blacks and Redruth that the game has now been cancelled.

Road access into the grounds is highly dangerous due to heavy flooding. The fire brigade have also advised us that the game should most definitely NOT take place.

We apologize for what may seem like indecision but we really wanted to host this afternoon's fixture but the weather conditions have beaten us.

Why did it take so long for common sense to prevail?

The correct decision has been made, a little late maybe.  Sounds like the common sense came from the Fire Brigade.
