Thought it was 50-0 (although hardly makes any difference!)

Hertfordshire's win was over a much changed Cornwall team which consisted of at least six players from Level Eight or Level Nine clubs and was always going to be tough for the Black and Gold.

I was at Surrey v Gloucestershire, not exactly a points fest, but a very enjoyable good old fashioned game of rugby and a surprisingly vocal crowd at times. Despite Surrey's win, I believe that their points deduction means they will be relegated this year.

According to the table on Wikipedia, that coupled with Devon getting 2 points at Kent means that yes, Surrey are relegated.

Bit of a nonsense that a team with a 100% record can't get to the final but Hertfordshire make it with two wins out of three.
That's easy for you to say.

York and Lancs both won 6 out of 6 over the last two years.
Only Lancs get to Twickers with a better points difference
Neither have played each other in the last two years
Doesn't make sense to me!

Unfortunately after last year one would have thought that a Roses match should
have prevailed.
Hey Ho maybe next year.
Anybody know how many Sale (Cheshire) players were in Lancashire team yesterday

I cannot believe it is fair to have divisions where teams do not play all of the others.

Obviously the fault is having 6 teams in a division as there isn't time for all to play all.

the solution seems obvious to me, there should be a maximum of 4 teams in each division then all teams can play
each other with teams having 2 home games 1 year getting 2 away games the next.

There are currently 26 sides - which is a difficult number to deal with.

Middlesex and Notts, Lincs & Derby currently do not compete. I note both are large counties with 2 representatives on council. And of course neither do the universities - of course it clashes with exams.

At 30 you could have 6 pools of 5 - but that would extend the season by a two weeks.

I think (haven't got the programme to hand) there were four Sale players in the matchday squad for Lancs, of which three started. One was the No.11 who scored a hat-trick.

There were no Sale players in Cheshire's 23. Cheshire had three Sale players for the opening defeat to Yorks.

Strange. Anybody know why Sale players are split between two counties?

Same reason that some Worthing players play for Sussex and some for Hampshire I would guess.

Sale is I believe on the bank of the Mersey - so is in historic Cheshire, but  only just.
Not that odd that some players born North of the Mersey might play for Sale and Lancashire.

Qualification Rules

It's based on which club they were registered with at the start of the season. If that club holds multiple county RFU memberships, I believe then they can choose which county they represent. But Sale is only a member of Cheshire so unless they have openly flouted the RFU rules then there has to be another reason.

I believe that qualification is based on place of birth, residence or the club you play for, hence South African born Petrus du Plesis played for Lancashire whilst living in Manchester and playing for Sedgley Park and then played for a county down south when at Sarries and on loan to O.A's.

Albert, Openthegate and Tulip, get over it, Yorkshire came 2nd again and therefore don't qualify for the final. Perhaps you should lobby your C.B. to volunteer to level transfer to the south, you might stand a chance of winning that one.Wink

The cheshire side obviously thought that by fielding the caldy pack they would beat Lancashire up in the forwards. On a hot day and firm pitch dubious tactics, the cheshire backs were starved of ball all afternoon while the forwards wore themselves out in the sunshine.
Lancashire absorbed the cheshire pressure first half then cut loose moving the ball at every opportunity.
Super 15 in the sun while cheshire played like it was a February night. Poor tactics by cheshire. Well played Lancashire.

Unless the rules have changed over the last few years I thought it was born or playing in the county.

Since some of the players from Sale have come from teams in Lancashire and Sale isn't far from the border then presumably they represent their county of birth, while the Cheshire ones will be eligible due to either coming from other Cheshire sides or due to Sale being in Cheshire

Just got home and checked the programme, six Sale players started the game with two more on the bench.

Keeppushininthescrum, pretty accurate assessment of the game really.

Apparently Yorkshire Senior men's team played Eastern Counties yesterday.
You would never know from the Yorkshire RFU website. No squad announcement, no final score, no match report & nothing on the YRFU Twitter site. Lots about the Ladies, well done to them and lots about the U20's against Georgia, well done to them also.
Well done the County.

Agree Yorkshire needs a media team.

There is a report and teams on the Eastern Counties Website.

Counties were of course based on a core of Cambridge players.
But we also had Ben Ibrahim playing for East Midlands.
And of course Rob Conquest playing for Herts.

Cambridge is of course only a few miles from Herts, Essex and East Mids so not a big surprise we have players who qualify - in fact most seasons we have more than that.

Best of luck for Rob in the final.
