I would hope he does, if he feels they are good enough. Doesn't any proactive DoR do this?

I am sure that he backs off if told the player is contracted but, if a contract only lasts for a season who can blame him for keeping in touch. Especially if player shows interest for when his contract expires. Players do have a habit of changing their story depending on who they are talking to.

I agree with tulip about the Sandal lads. They have all been good lads and some have moved on from us to stay in Nat 1. That's life.

As for taking talent that other clubs have nurtured, we have a major Mini Junior set up ourselves and have lost numerous lads over the years, just at the time when they could do us some good at a senior level.
Again, that's life.

It's not a case of "should" stick with it - if it's all been done correctly and the contract is registered with the RFU (as should be done) then you HAVE to stick with it. The club holding the contract can simply refuse to release a player to another club and the RFU will back them completely.  They'll also come down heavily on a club or DOR who approaches contracted players against the regulations. However if things haven't been done correctly and the player hasn't signed an RFU approved and registered contract they won't interfere. Which is the advantage of doing things the right way as opposed to the "brown envelope" or "payment through sponsor" method.

Some clubs such as my own local, the only way to attract new talent that can push the team forward whilst being amateur is through scouting via the lower leagues. We brought in a centre/wing a couple years ago when we were in Nat 2, we have since been relegated but the lad is currently playing in Nat 1 now although using us as a stop off club, he's gone on to greater things, which is great to see and also good for the club as they market this to any new talent they try and sign up.

Coming to think of it, I believe we've had at least 6 players do that in the last few years some home grown ofcourse….. being pinched by Nat 1,Champ,Prem clubs etc.

However badmouthing those that don't want to join you, well that's just not a great look for the recruiting club/persons is it now.....

So in terms of honouring contracts ect, I’s don’t exactly do this themselves. They always try to take other talent nurtured in other clubs and haemorrhage their own as they don’t looj after them.

Billingham4lyf (shouldn't that be 'Beverley4lyf'?)

You haven't provided any further info but after a bit of digging it appears that your player was spoken to by someone who is an ex-Beverley and ex-Hull Ionians player and not our DoR. This ex-player of both Clubs thought the lad could play at a higher level and I believe he told him so. Happens all the time.

So, our DoR has not spoken to your player, who I believe is registered with the RFU but not contracted. If our DoR becomes involved all proper procedures will be observed.

Also, your statement "They always try to take other talent nurtured in other clubs and haemorrhage their own as they don’t looj after them" is complete rubbish. We generally lose players for one of 2 reasons: 1) They naturally progress to Clubs at a higher level or, 2) They drop down a level for more money.
Regards.

George Chuter steps out of retirement and becomes available for Hinckley for the remainder of the season. Is there any other player/DOR in the league?

I think if he can still catch and pass then he will be fine. By all accounts he's been packing down in training and the set piece is still there

I'm sure he will be ok, assuming he can scrum and throw in. Additional requirement, obviously being able to keep hold of the ball at the back of a rolling maul.

Arnie is not Hoppers DoR - he is Head Coach and he doesn’t want to play anyway really.
